Han ratter en 1990 Volvo 240 Estate langs en britisk landevei mens han forteller at 240&#8217;ens manglende dynamiske egenskaper setter ham tilbake til 60-\u00e5rene. <em>&laquo;Volvo 240, med sin r\u00f8ffe motorgange og stive bakaksel, trives best i lave hastigheter.&raquo;<\/em> Clarkson minner oss om at dette er en bil som opprinnelig ble lansert for \u00e5 konkurrere mot biler som <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Austin_Cambridge#A55_Cambridge_Mark_II\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Austin Cambridge<\/strong><\/a>.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>&laquo;-Trofaste 240-eiere bytter ikke inn bilene sine for en <em>nyere<\/em> bil, men en <em>bedre<\/em> bil. I 1990 fikk herreg\u00e5rdsvognen st\u00f8rre bakrute,  servo og elektriske vindushevere som standard p\u00e5 alle biler. At denne bilen selger i dag (1990) er kun p\u00e5 grunn av sin image. Mange har endt opp i bilcross. Hvis man greidde \u00e5 holde rusten i sjakk, finnes det knapt noe som hindrer denne bilen fra \u00e5 holde seg i live. Nesten alt av slitedeler kan fremdeles skaffes billig p\u00e5 Biltemas delelager. Men man kan alltids tr\u00f8ste seg med &#8211; at om det er langt mellom 240&#8217;er, er det enda lengere mellom hver gang man ser en XM. Ikke bare i Norge, &#8211; men i hele verden.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Avbildet modell er en GL med 2,3 liter og sannsynligvis 5-trinns manuell girkasse. Bilen er nok en 1988 eller 1989-modell fordi den mangler det nye, store bakvinduet som kom i 1990, og fordi den har innspr\u00f8ytning. Dette ble standard p\u00e5 alle motorer i 1989, men kunne velges p\u00e5 tidligere modeller. Biler med Lambda-sonder fikk da et Lambda-merke i fronten, som denne har.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jeg humrer over kommentarene til Jeremy Clarkson. Volvo 240 har aldri v\u00e6rt noen ny bil. Den tok form p\u00e5 <a href=\"https:\/\/no.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jan_Wilsgaard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jan Wilsgaards<\/strong><\/a> tegnebord i 1964 for \u00e5 konkurrere, &#8211; ikke bare mot Austin Cambridge, men datidens store familiebiler som Hillman Minx, Peugeot 404 og Fiat 2300, for \u00e5 nevne noen. Den endelige bilen dukket ikke opp f\u00f8r h\u00f8sten 1966 som 144 og i 1968 som stasjonsvognen 145. Frem til siste modell i 1993 har Volvoen, som Jeremy Clarkson p\u00e5peker, kun <em>forbedret<\/em> seg litt hvert \u00e5r.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Det ble liksom aldri noe Big Bang med
