Dette er ikke bare ekte amerikanske biler &#8211; det er ogs\u00e5 bilmodeller som ble vel tatt imot i Norge og som mange fikk oppleve.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>Bilindustrien i USA opplevde turbulente tider p\u00e5 1950-tallet. Ettersp\u00f8rselen etter nye biler var h\u00f8y, og utviklingen av nye modeller skjedde raskt. Ved inngangen til desenniet sto de tre store bilkonsernene GM, Ford og Chrysler for 70% av produksjonen. Ved utgangen hadde andelen steget til 94%. Flere bilprodusenter fikk \u00f8konomiske problemer og ble kj\u00f8pt opp eller fusjonerte sammen med andre produsenter &#8211; og gikk etter hvert konkurs. Legendariske bilmerker som DeSoto, Hudson, Nash, Packard, Studebaker, Kaiser, Frazer, Henry J og Willys er forsvunnet. Klubben ble stiftet i 1977 av <em>Jack Tveter<\/em>. I dag er det tatt vare p\u00e5 430 biler og 120 av disse st\u00e5r utstilt i klubbens lokaler p\u00e5 S\u00f8rum. I mitt gamle fotoalbum finnes det et bilde av oldemor og hennes voksne barn som poserer foran en staselig, svart bil p\u00e5 tunet ved sm\u00e5bruket. Lenge trodde jeg at det var en Chevrolet, men da jeg s\u00e5 n\u00e6rmere etter, s\u00e5 jeg at det var en Kaiser. Samme bil ble for \u00f8vrig benyttet i den f\u00f8rste filmen med &laquo;Olsenbanden&raquo;. Bilen til Benny var en nemlig en Kaiser &#8211; og den st\u00e5r selvf\u00f8lgelig hos Eight Amcars Club med barnevogna til Basse p\u00e5 taket. Han jobbet for \u00f8vrig som sj\u00e5f\u00f8r, og jeg husker at han kj\u00f8rte omkring i landet for <em>Bergene Chokoladefabrik<\/em> i en amerikansk varebil med forh\u00f8yet tak og hvitmalt 50-talls grill. Trolig en Ford F-serie.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nKulturhistorie handler om hvordan folk bodde og levde. Gamle hus, m\u00f8bler, stilarter &#8211; og biler h\u00f8rer med i dette. At bilene hos Eight Amcars Club omfatter s\u00e5 mange norske biler, gj\u00f8r det i sannhet til et stykke kulturhistorie. Jeg har snakket med mange unge &laquo;Amcar&raquo;-frelste mennesker som tror at deres forfedre kj\u00f8rte rundt i Cadillac og Lincoln. Sannheten det var nesten umulig \u00e5 kj\u00f8pe ny privatbil f\u00f8r 1960, med unntak for drosje-eiere, leger og dyrleger. Det fantes noen f\u00e5 smutthull i regelverket. Blant annet var det mulig \u00e5 kj\u00f8pe biler som var eldre enn 3 \u00e5r. Det er \u00e5rsaken til at flere av bilene er oppf\u00f8rt som &laquo;bruktimporterte&raquo; etter bare 3 \u00e5r, som faktisk er tilfelle for Kaiser-bilen p\u00e5 bildet.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br Dette var en bil det fantes flere av i Norge og som faktisk egnet seg godt her med sine kompakte m\u00e5l. Det var ogs\u00e5 en bilmodell som jeg synes virker forut for sin tid med tanke p\u00e5 at den ble lansert i 1951. De f\u00f8rste bilene ble levert uten blinklys og bagasjeluke. I trafikken m\u00e5tte man derfor gj\u00f8re armbevegelser for \u00e5 varsle medtrafikanter.
