Det skapte flere interessante varianter, som denne Anglia&#8217;en.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>\u00c5 bygge egne karosseri-varianter var forbeholdt kostbare biler som Bentley og Rolls Royce. Hadde man nok penger, kunne man velge spesielle og unike karosserier. Men etter krigen ble britiske karosseri-firmaer ogs\u00e5 brukt til \u00e5 bygge varianter av vanlige bilmodeller.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nKjenner du igjen bilen p\u00e5 bildet over? Det er en <em>Ford 105E Anglia<\/em> bygget om til en &laquo;hatchback&raquo; med bakluke og nedfellbart baksete. Den ble markedsf\u00f8rt som en &laquo;Sports Saloon&raquo; som man kunne bestille via sin Ford-forhandler, eller man kunne ta med seg sin egen Ford Anglia til <em>E D Abbott<\/em> i Farnham. Da kunne man levere bilen med innover-skr\u00e5nende bakrute og f\u00e5 tilbake en praktisk halv-kombi med topphengslet bakluke.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nVi skal komme tilbake til Ford Anglia senere.<\/p>\n<p>Samarbeidet mellom Ford og E D Abbott begynte tidlig p\u00e5 1950-tallet. Under en lunsjpause hadde en designer hos karosseri-firmaet drodlet over et brosjyre-bilde av en Ford Zephyr mk1. Han hadde tegnet om sedan-modellen til en lekker stasjonsvogn og vist tegningen til sjefen sin, som hadde hadde blitt s\u00e5 begeistret at han presenterte den til Ford-sjefen i Dagenham. Folk som trengte ekstra plass av praktiske hensyn, kj\u00f8pte varebiler. Stasjonsvogner ble en biltype beregnet for dem som \u00f8nsket ekstra plass uten \u00e5 gi avkall p\u00e5 sedanens eleganse &#8211; i f\u00f8lge datidens reklame. \u00c9n av Fords beste stasjonsvogn-kunder ble politiet. Uniformerte mk2 Zephyr ble etter hvert et vanlig syn langs engelske veier. I 1956 m\u00e5tte man betale \u00a3200 for \u00e5 bygge om en komplett Zephyr sedan til stasjonsvogn. Prisen for halvfabrikata biler var \u00a3145, og en leveringsklar stasjonsvogn kostet da \u00a31227. I mellomkrigstiden ble karosseri-arbeidene utf\u00f8rt p\u00e5 finere prestisjebiler som Bentley, Lagonda, Lanchester, Healey og Talbot. Oppdragene fra Ford kom i en tid da karosseri-firmaene generelt fikk mindre \u00e5 gj\u00f8re. Da Herr Abbot trakk seg tilbake p\u00e5 slutten av 1950-tallet, ble firmaet solgt til <em>R. Gordon Sutherland<\/em> som drev <em>Friary Motors<\/em> &#8211; et bilfirma i <em>Old Windsor<\/em>. If\u00f8lge annonser kostet konverteringen \u00a375 eksklusive arbeidskostnad utf\u00f8rt hos Abbott i Farnham.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nSamtidig som nye Abbott Estate var klar, hadde Ford i Dagenham begynt \u00e5 produsere sin egen Anglia stasjonsvogn. Den ga nok mer plass, men hadde f\u00e5tt nye baklys og bakskjermer uten de sm\u00e5 karakteristiske finnene.
