At ulykken skjedde i en Mercedes-Benz S-Klasse W140 vil f\u00f8lge denne modellen for alltid.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Ingen vanlig s\u00f8ndagstur<\/h3>\n<p><em>Hotel Ritz<\/em> var ikke forberedt p\u00e5 storbes\u00f8ket. Paparazziene fikk trenge seg p\u00e5 og gjorde at Dodi og Diana bestemte seg for \u00e5 overnatte i \u00e9n av Al Fayeds leiligheter i Paris &#8211; en kj\u00f8retur bare f\u00e5 minutter unna. For \u00e5 unnslippe paparazziene ble det stilt opp to biler foran hovedinngangen &#8211; blant annet en Range Rover med Dodi&#8217;s faste sj\u00e5f\u00f8r. Bilen paret skulle bruke, var en innleid &laquo;vanlig&raquo; <em>Mercedes-Benz S-Klasse 280 S<\/em> som sto parkert i en sidegate til hotellet. Planen var \u00e5 snike seg ubemerket ut i bilen, men paparazziene oppdaget dem, og fulgte etter langs <em>Rue de Rivoli<\/em> mot <em>Concord-plassen<\/em>. I rundkj\u00f8ringen s\u00e5 forf\u00f8lgerne at Mercedes\u2019en sladdet kraftig idet sj\u00e5f\u00f8ren ga full gass for \u00e5 riste dem av seg. Sekunder senere f\u00f2r bilen ned i undergangen. Kilde: Google Maps<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Hvordan kunne 3 mennesker omkomme i en moderne prestisjebil?<\/h3>\n<p>Vel hadde sj\u00e5f\u00f8ren 1,5 i promille da bilen traff det 13&#8217;nde betongpillaret skr\u00e5tt mot f\u00f8rersiden med en antatt fart p\u00e5 105 km\/t. Livvakten var den eneste av de 4 ombord som brukte sikkerhetsbelte &#8211; og som overlevde. Flere britiske leger har uttalt at lady Diana ville hatt st\u00f8rre overlevelsesmuligheter hvis redningsfolkene hadde f\u00e5tt henne raskere til sykehus i stedet for \u00e5 fors\u00f8ke \u00e5 stabilisere tilstanden hennes. Legen p\u00e5 stedet forsto ikke at Diana hadde indre skader. Derfor ble det bestemt at de skulle b\u00e6re ut Dodi f\u00f8r henne, til tross for at han allerede var erkl\u00e6rt d\u00f8d. Vel inne i ambulansen, ble det uklart hvilket sykehus som kunne ta imot henne. Det skulle g\u00e5 to timer f\u00f8r hun ankom <em>H\u00f4pital de la Piti\u00e9 Salp\u00eatri\u00e8re<\/em>.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Flere ti\u00e5r etter ulykken pekes det stadig p\u00e5 nye syndebukker. De forholdene nevnt her, var ikke bare kritiske for utfallet, men kan ogs\u00e5 belyse om det er grunn til \u00e5 kritisere det involverte kj\u00f8ret\u00f8yet.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\nI ettertid er det kommet frem opplysninger om at bilen som ble brukt p\u00e5 turen, tidligere hadde v\u00e6rt involvert i flere uhell &#8211; det siste s\u00e5 alvorlig at eksperter mener bilen burde ha blitt kondemnert. Etter bildene \u00e5 d\u00f8mme, tror jeg det dreier seg om en facelifted modell produsert som \u00e5rsmodell 1995. Normalt veier bilen 1850 kg. Hva den pansrede utgaven veier, avhenger av hvilken grad av pansring som er benyttet. Ved \u00e5 sammenligne en nyere, pansret S-Klasse mot en standard bil, har jeg kommet frem til en vekt\u00f8kning p\u00e5 700 kg. En pansret W140 kan s\u00e5ledes veie vel 2,5 tonn uten sj\u00e5f\u00f8r. En standard bil kan akselerere fra 0-100 p\u00e5 10,8 sekunder og n\u00e5 en toppfart p\u00e5 215 km\/t, men en pansret bil vil nok ikke v\u00e6re like rask og ikke like h\u00e5ndterbar. Det er ogs\u00e5 verdt \u00e5 nevne at Mercedes\u2019en hadde ESP og kollisjonspute for f\u00f8rer og passasjer. Datidens S-Klasse kunne ogs\u00e5 leveres med sidekollisjonsputer, men jeg kan ikke se noen p\u00e5 bildene.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Skulle ha v\u00e6rt kondemnert<\/h3>\n<p>Bilen var leid ut av limousin-selskapet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paris-etoile-limousines.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Etoile Limousines<\/strong><\/a>, fordi hotellets egne biler var opptatt, blant annet oppstilt for \u00e5 villede paparazziene. I 2017 &#8211; akkurat 20 \u00e5r etter ulykken &#8211; ble det kjent gjennom et aktualitetsprogram i den franske TV-kanalen <em>M6<\/em> at bilen i den fatale ulykken skal ha v\u00e6rt involvert i ulykker tidligere. I den siste ulykken, hadde den blitt stj\u00e5let og endt opp som vrak etter \u00e5 ha gjort flere rundkast. Bilen ble f\u00f8rst kondemnert, men senere reparert av en mekaniker som solgte den videre til Etoile Limousines. Minst \u00e9n av sj\u00e5f\u00f8rene hadde klaget over at bilen ikke var i kj\u00f8rbar stand. Han mente at den ble ustabil n\u00e5r man akselererte hardt i hastigheter over 60 km\/t. TV-programmet hadde engasjert en ekspert som sammen med en representant for forsikringsselskapet hadde vurdert at reparasjonene ikke burde ha v\u00e6rt utf\u00f8rt &#8211; bilen skulle ha blitt kondemnert.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Vraket ble selvf\u00f8lgelig unders\u00f8kt grundig for \u00e5 se etter om det var utf\u00f8rt arbeid som kunne svekke kj\u00f8ret\u00f8yet. Hvis p\u00e5standen fra tidligere sj\u00e5f\u00f8r(er) var sanne, ville ustabiliteten kunne opptre inne i undergangen, kanskje da sj\u00e5f\u00f8ren lettet p\u00e5 gassen. Hvis man har en ustabilitet &#8211; for eksempel hengerlass med plank &#8211; vil ikke faresignalene melde seg f\u00f8r man er kommet opp i fart. Nedstigningen til undergangen kombinert med h\u00f8y fart kan ogs\u00e5 ha destabilisert kj\u00f8ret\u00f8yet etter at det har &laquo;tatt bakken&raquo; og &laquo;bouncet&raquo; litt opp inn i svingen. Siden sj\u00e5f\u00f8ren hadde h\u00f8y promille, la man skylden p\u00e5 ham i stedet for \u00e5 fors\u00f8ke \u00e5 finne ut hvor hvordan en uskadet Mercedes ville oppf\u00f8re seg i tilsvarende hastighet p\u00e5 stedet.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Tok bilen smellet som den skulle?<\/h3>\n<p>Sammenst\u00f8tet var s\u00e5 kraftig at radiatoren var trykket inn i kupeen &#8211; faktisk inn i kroppen til sj\u00e5f\u00f8ren. Og hvorfor kunne ikke redningsmannskapet \u00e5pne &#8211; eller bryte opp d\u00f8rene? De m\u00e5tte kappe taket og dra baksetepassasjerene opp bakover. Dette var en av \u00e5rsakene til at lady Diana kom for sent p\u00e5 operasjonsbordet.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Et skadet rennomm\u00e9?<\/h3>\n<p>Daimler AG har aldri kommet med noen erkl\u00e6ringer vedr\u00f8rende ulykken &#8211; ei heller omkring p\u00e5standene som dukket opp i 2017 om at ulykkesbilen burde v\u00e6rt kondemnert. Like etter ulykken spekulerte CNN i om ulykken ville p\u00e5virke Mercedes-Benz som bilmerke. \u00c5ret etter ble W220 &#8211; den neste S-Klassen lansert &#8211; et gunstig tispunkt for Daimler, samtidig som ettersp\u00f8rselen etter W140 m\u00e5 ha falt betraktelig. Som en kuriositet kan det nevnes at den mest kostbare W140 i historien ville ha v\u00e6rt ulykkesbilen.
