\u00e5r<\/h3>\n<p>Bristol Blenheim var en av de siste modellene. Bilen p\u00e5 bildene ble produsert i 1998, men virker p\u00e5 mange m\u00e5ter eldre enn andre biler fra samme epoke. Karosseriet er h\u00e5ndlaget i aluminium, montert p\u00e5 en separat ramme. Bristol Blenheim, og alle foreg\u00e5ende modeller helt tilbake til 1945 har n\u00f8yaktig samme akselavstand. Den f\u00f8rste modellen, Bristol 400, var basert p\u00e5 en strukket utgave av f\u00f8rkrigsmodellen BMW 328. Ser man n\u00e6rmere p\u00e5 Bristol Blenheim sitt lange frontparti og kup\u00e9 plassert over bakakselen, kan man ane trekkene fra 1930-tallets biler. Det enorme frontpartiet rommer plass til st\u00e5ende reservehjul i fartsretningen. Bristol Blenheim er like bred som Ford Scorpio, men har 12,5 cm smalere sporvidde foran og 10 cm smalere bak. P\u00e5 mange m\u00e5ter kan det se ut som om Bristol bygget moderne biler p\u00e5 en gammel plattform, skj\u00f8nt drivverk, bremser, fj\u00e6ring og styring m.m. er l\u00f8pende oppgradert. Poenget mitt er at Bristol ikke p\u00e5 noen m\u00e5te fremst\u00e5r som vakker, moderne eller harmonisk. De fremst\u00e5r heller ikke som velbygde. N\u00e5r jeg g\u00e5r tett inn p\u00e5 bilene finner jeg ujevne linjer mellom karosseri-skj\u00f8tene. Det l\u00e5 i Kensington High Street. Jeg har passert det mange ganger, men aldri tr\u00e5dt innenfor. Alle salg gikk gjennom firmaets ubestridte leder, <em>Tony Crook<\/em>, tidligere RAF-pilot og racerbilf\u00f8rer, som tok over selskapet i 1960. Det g\u00e5r flere historier om ham. Blant annet skal han i flere \u00e5r ha betalt en hjeml\u00f8s uteligger for \u00e5 henge rundt og kaste negativ glans over Rolls-Royce p\u00e5 London Motor Show. Ved ett tilfelle skal han ogs\u00e5 ha kledd seg ut som en arabisk oljesjeik og fors\u00f8kt \u00e5 kj\u00f8pe opp alle bilene p\u00e5 Aston-Martin sin stand, s\u00e5nn at de ikke skulle ha noen biler \u00e5 stille ut. Tony Crook var ogs\u00e5 kjent for \u00e5 nekte biljournalister \u00e5 teste bilene sine. Frittalende journalister, som for eksempel <em>Jeremy Clarkson<\/em>, ble nektet adgang til salgslokalet. Det ble heller aldri oppgitt noen produksjonstall til pressen. For \u00e5 komme p\u00e5 kundelisten, m\u00e5tte man komme p\u00e5 godfot med Tony Crook. Den fikk kortere akselavstand, noe som indikerer at det ble gjort endringer i rammen. Fra 1961 ble alle Bristol-bilene forsynt med drivverk fra Chrysler, V8-motorer med 3-trinns automatkasser. Men Fighter fikk i stedet Chryslers V10 motor &#8211; samme som satt i Viper. Karosseriet fikk en helt ny \u201clook\u201d med m\u00e5kevinged\u00f8rer og et sv\u00e6rt futuristisk hekkparti. Ingen vet eksakt hvor mange biler som ble produsert frem til produksjonen opph\u00f8rte i 2011, men det kan dreie seg om 7-13 biler. Problemet var ikke lav ettersp\u00f8rsel. Tony Crook hevdet at Bristol Cars alltid ville selge f\u00e6rre biler enn hva folk var villige til \u00e5 kj\u00f8pe. H\u00e5ndlagde biler krever som kjent mange timer, og Bristol Fighter krevde kanskje flere timer i produksjonen enn tidligere biler med enklere karosserier. Da selskapet ble satt under administrasjon i 2011, ble 22 ansatte satt p\u00e5 d\u00f8ren. Selskapet ble kj\u00f8pt opp og innlemmet i <em>KamKorp<\/em>, et selskap eid av <em>Kamal Sidiqi<\/em>, som tidligere hadde kj\u00f8pt opp det britiske selskapet <em>Frazer-Nash Research Limited<\/em>. Like f\u00f8r Kamtorp kj\u00f8pte Bristol Cars, hadde gassfirmaet BOC (British Oxygen Company) flyttet ut av sitt fancy hovedkvarter i Windlesham, Surrey. Kamal Sidiqi kj\u00f8pte stedet for \u00e5 realisere sine innovative id\u00e9er der. Restene etter Bristol ble flyttet over til parkeringskjelleren i det nye hovedkvarteret. Ett av Sidiqi\u2019s prosjekter var en helt ny 2-seter sportsbil, kalt <em>Bullet<\/em>. Det skulle bli en bil som minnet om AC ACE (for de som vet hva det er for noe). Men Bullet rakk s\u00e5 vidt \u00e5 bli presentert for mediene f\u00f8r Kamkorp gikk konkurs &#8211; og bygningsmassen i Windlesham ble forlatt uten tilsyn. Folk flest hadde p\u00e5 det tidspunktet ingen anelse hvor det var blitt av restene etter Bristol f\u00f8r noen ungdommer tok seg inn og fant halvferdige biler,  produksjonsverkt\u00f8y, med mer. \u00c5 ta seg inn i forlatte bygninger og formidle bilder p\u00e5 sosiale medier kalles \u201curbex\u201d &#8211; urban exploring. N\u00e5 fikk alle vite hvor restene etter Bristol befant seg. Man fikk se prototypen Bullet, halvferdige biler, reservedeler og kanskje det aller viktigste &#8211; trebukker som kunne benyttes for \u00e5 utforme nye karosserideler til tidligere modeller av Bristol. <\/p>\n<hr \/>\n\n<div class=\"fb-post\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/amybeattie67\/posts\/pfbid02ntLExQKDRj8Nf3ESj1JDAKziB6xVWyTga1LgWUz4cseRKkjLrd485GYNtB3Yr8pQl\" data-width=\"552\" style=\"background-color: #fff; display: inline-block;\"><\/div>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2bigger\">S\u00e5 dukket Gordon Murray opp<\/h3>\n<p><em>Gordon Murray<\/em> var tidligere direkt\u00f8r i McLaren og sto bak utviklingen av McLaren F1 &#8211; datidens raskeste selvaspirerende sportsbil. Murray er i gang med \u00e5 utvikle nye superbiler under merket GMA &#8211; Gordon Murray Automotive. I fjor presenterte han GMA T.50 &#8211; utviklet i samme \u00e5nd som McLaren-bilene med bruk av lettvektsmaterialer, V12-motorer og midtstilt f\u00f8rersete. I \u00e5r har han sluppet T.33 som er en spider-utgave. I slutten av 2020 kj\u00f8pte Gordon Murray godset i Windlesham for \u00e5 bygge opp et hovedkvarter for det nye selskapet sitt. Det skal bli et utviklings- og forskningssenter for bilproduksjon med en egen testbane p\u00e5 utsiden. Arbeidet er fortsatt i gang, men testbanen er nylig \u00e5pnet.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nI forbindelse med overdragelsen ble tidligere Kamkorps eiendeler solgt p\u00e5 auksjon i september 2020 hvor <em>Bristol Owners Club<\/em> fikk sikret det meste. Etter en skikkelig \u201cdugnad\u201d fra klubben er alt fraktet trygt tilbake til Bristol i Brabazon Hangar ved den nedlagte flystripen ved Filton i Bristol, der bilmerket hadde sin vugge. class=\"tebh2bigger\">Bristol som hobbybil<\/h3>\n<p>Det sies at Bristol kostet det doble av hva man m\u00e5tte gi for dyreste Porsche, BMW eller Mercedes-Benz. Den aller dyreste Bristol &#8211; Bristol Fighter T &#8211; skal ha kostet omtrent 4 ganger s\u00e5 mye som Dodge Viper GTS. Hva du m\u00e5 gi som bruktbil, avhenger sannsynligvis av tilstanden &#8211; kanskje ogs\u00e5 av bilens historie. Flere av bilene til salgs har gjennomg\u00e5tt full renovering, og er trolig i bedre stand enn de var da de trillet ut av fabrikklokalet i Bristol. Den omtalte Bristol Blenheim ble solgt for \u00a323.625 ett \u00e5r etter at jeg tok bilde av bilen i n\u00e6rheten av Holland Park i London. Bilen var da ikke i topp tilstand, men heller ingen vrakbil. Bristol skal ha v\u00e6rt langt fra feilfrie da de ble overlevert sine eiere &#8211; og flere eiere skal ha f\u00e5tt bilene gjennomg\u00e5tt og fikset p\u00e5 et tidlig stadium for egen regning (de var jo rike). En nyere, restaurert Bristol vil trolig koste fra \u00a350.000 og oppover. Man m\u00e5 regne med \u00e5 gi mer for tidlige modeller basert p\u00e5 BMW med 2 liters motorer.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nJeg fortalte innledningsvis at jeg ikke fant Bristols biler s\u00e6rlig attraktive. Jeg ville heller lagt pengene mine i en klassisk Porsche. Det som likevel gj\u00f8r Bristol interessant, er at det representerer noe s\u00e6regent, noe unikt og noe som det er knyttet historier til &#8211; med r\u00f8tter til krigsfly fra den 2. verdenskrig, stolte britiske bilbyggere, den fargerike Tony Crook og kanskje tidligere eieres meritter. Jeg vil si at de som eier en h\u00e5ndlaget Bristol, viser at de forsvarer s\u00e5nne verdier &#8211; en motvekt til produkter uten tanke p\u00e5 sjel og livsl\u00f8p.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nIngen vet eksakt hvor mange Bristol Blenheims som ble produsert.
