Etter Berlin-murens fall fikk folkebilen Trabant kultstatus, men hva med de dyrere Wartburg&#8217;ene? Havnet de i glemmeboken?\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Hvem bryr seg?<\/h3>\n<p>Nylig kom jeg over to eksemplarer av Wartburg 1.3 &#8211; den aller siste Wartburg-modellen som ble laget. If\u00f8lge en av eierne, finnes det en tredje bil ogs\u00e5, alle tatt inn til Norge fra Ungarn. Det er lenge siden jeg har sett en Wartburg &#8211; og enda lenger siden jeg har sett noen i <em>s\u00e5<\/em> fin forfatning. Det slo meg at designet har holdt seg godt. Wartburg 353 kom ut p\u00e5 markedet i 1966 &#8211; da som \u00e5rsmodell 1967. F\u00e5 av samtidens modeller ser like moderne ut i dag.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Mer enn en facelift<\/h3>\n<p>Mange vil nok hevde at Wartburg 1.3 kun var en facelift fordi det er ikke vanskelig \u00e5 se likheten med  forgjengeren Wartburg 353. Faktisk kan det v\u00e6re vanskelig \u00e5 se noen forskjell p\u00e5 de to modellene i det hele tatt. De st\u00f8rste endringene finnes under panseret. Inntil 1988 ble Wartburg levert med 2-taktsmotorer p\u00e5 1.0 liter, 4-trinns girkasse med rattgir og drift p\u00e5 forhjulene. Senere fikk IFA (fabrikken) en avtale med Volkswagen om lisensproduksjon av deres 1.3-motor &#8211; en EA111 motor tidligere brukt i Polo. Hele fronten m\u00e5tte bygges om for \u00e5 gi plass til Polo-motoren p\u00e5 tvers. Den nye modellen fikk ogs\u00e5 ny girkasse med gulvgir og et omarbeidet instrumentbord. Man kan trygt si at det var et sp\u00f8rsm\u00e5l om \u00e5 leve eller d\u00f8 for bilmerket. Eksport til vestlige land hadde opph\u00f8rt for flere \u00e5r siden p\u00e5 grunn av nye utslippskrav. I kj\u00f8lvannet av den russiske Perestrojka\u2019en var det ikke vanskelig \u00e5 sp\u00e5 en fremtidig tilpasning mellom \u00d8st-Tyskland og resten av Europa. Med den nye Wartburg 1.3 var IFA-fabrikken i Eisenach klar til \u00e5 m\u00f8te ettersp\u00f8rselen i innenlandsmarkedet og nabolandene i \u00f8st. Men ting utviklet seg raskt. I november 1989 falt Berlinmuren og \u00e5ret etter kapitulerte det \u00f8st-tyske regimet. Wartburg kunne ikke konkurrere med vestlige bilmerker og produksjonen opph\u00f8rte i april 1991. en av de siste<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Kunne Wartburg v\u00e6rt reddet?<\/h3>\n<p>Bilene s\u00e5 jo fremdeles ganske bra ut. De hadde et bra drivverk for sin tid, skivebremser foran og uavhengig fj\u00e6ring p\u00e5 alle hjul. At bilene ble uselgelige over natten, skyldes nok f\u00f8rste og fremst at folk flest var lei av ting som var knyttet til det gamle regimet. Legg merke til at kombi-coup\u00e9 hekken har en form som minner om Fiat 128 P og Volkswagen Passat mk1. Her hjemme ble den solgt under navnet Wartburg 1000 President. Min kamerat hadde en 1967-modell i husstanden og siden jeg fikk f\u00f8rerkort f\u00f8r ham, fikk jeg kj\u00f8re bilen noen ganger n\u00e5r vi skulle p\u00e5 kino og s\u00e5nt. Jeg hadde tidligere erfaring fra min fars Saab 96 (2-takter) og syntes at Wartburgen var lettere \u00e5 kj\u00f8re p\u00e5 grusveiene enn Saab\u2019en. Begge bilene hadde mye vekt foran og var forhjulsdrevne, men jeg syntes det var lettere \u00e5 legge opp Wartburgen i svingene, styre inn, slippe opp gassen, kjenne p\u00e5 overstyringen f\u00f8r jeg kunne bruke gassen for \u00e5 komme meg trygt ut. Saaben ville helst g\u00e5 rett fram. Jeg hadde jo sett hvordan \u201cCarlsson p\u00e5 taket\u201d kj\u00f8rte, men det hjalp ikke <em>meg<\/em> noe. S\u00e5 sett med en 18-\u00e5rings \u00f8yne ble det alts\u00e5 1-0 til Wartburg.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Som hobbybil<\/h3>\n<p>Etter gjenforeningen mellom \u00d8st- og Vest-Tyskland tror jeg mange Wartburg-biler fikk en ublid skjebne. Ingen beh\u00f8vde \u00e5 vente i 10 \u00e5r p\u00e5 \u00e5 f\u00e5 en ny bil. Heldigvis tok noen eiere vare p\u00e5 sine Wartburg&#8217;er. Det finnes fremdeles fine eksemplarer, som de jeg har f\u00e5tt se p\u00e5 n\u00e6rt hold. Med en moderne motor blir bilene enklere i daglig bruk enn de gamle 2-takterne, &#8211; og mer driftssikre. Wartburg 1.3 er veteranbiler som deler mange fellestrekk med modellene fra 60- og 70-\u00e5rene. De er bygget p\u00e5 st\u00e5lramme med enkelte karosserideler laget av glassfiber. Bilene er ikke proppet med elektronikk, og det er god plass i motorrommet. Det er ogs\u00e5 verdt \u00e5 nevne at bilene ser sympatiske ut, byr p\u00e5 god plass og komfortabel sittekomfort. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Artig \u00e5 se Wartburg 1.3 p\u00e5 norske skilter.
