Spesielt biler som ble bygget i sm\u00e5 serier \u2013 av  ekte entusiaster i gamle flyhangarer. Noen av folkene som bygde bilene, er enn\u00e5 i live. Og bilene &#8211; de tar man godt vare p\u00e5. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Id\u00e9en om sette V8-motor i en engelsk gran turismo<\/h3>\n<p>Historien, som enn\u00e5 kan gjenfortelles av levende mennesker, startet hos <em>Peerless Cars Ltd.<\/em> i Slough, vest for London. Der bygde de vakre GT-biler som minnet om tidlige Aston Martin DB-modeller. En dag \u00f8nsket en av kundene, <em><strong>Rick Neilson<\/strong><\/em> &#8211; tidligere USAF pilot stasjonert i England &#8211; seg en skikkelig V8-motor i sin Peerless. S\u00e5 kom <em>Jim Keeble<\/em>, frittst\u00e5ende bilingeni\u00f8r og tidligere racerf\u00f8rer, innom med en Buick V8-motor som han monterte inn. P\u00e5 slutten av 50-tallet var V8-motor i engelsk sportsbil enn\u00e5 nytt &#8211; selv for merker som Jensen og Bristol. <em>John Gordon<\/em>, som var administrerende direkt\u00f8r hos Peerless p\u00e5 den tiden, tok ideen med seg inn i et nytt selskap som etter hvert skulle f\u00e5 navnet <em>Gordon Keeble<\/em>. De laget en r\u00f8rramme av firkantede st\u00e5lprofiler med understell av samme type som Peerless hadde brukt p\u00e5 sine biler, satte inn en 283 cu in (4,6 liter) Chevrolet motor fra Neilson&#8217;s egen Corvette C1, og sendte det ferdige chassiset til Bertone i Italia hvor den da helt unge <em>Giorgetto Giugiaro<\/em> fikk i oppdrag \u00e5 utforme et passende aluminiums-karosseri. Resultatet ble meget bra, &#8211; s\u00e5 bra at bilen dukket opp som hovedattraksjon p\u00e5 Bertone&#8217;s stand p\u00e5 Gen\u00e8ve-utstillingen 1960.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Bilen p\u00e5 bildet<\/h3>\n<p>Bilen vi snakker om, er den r\u00f8de bilen p\u00e5 hovedbildet, &laquo;472 LKX&raquo;. Etter Gen\u00e8ve ble den stilt til r\u00e5dighet for datidens bilpresse. Senere forsvant bilen og ble borte i flere \u00e5r. Produksjonslokalene var der Spitfire flyene ble bygget under krigen, &#8211; i dag en del av omr\u00e5det til Southampton Airport. For at bilene ikke skulle bli for dyre, ble karosseriene st\u00f8pt i glassfiber &#8211; ikke aluminiums-karosserier som prototypen hadde. Motorene fra GM var n\u00e5 327 cu in. (5,4 liter). Ytelsene var ekstreme for sin tid med toppfart p\u00e5 over 200 km\/t og 0-100 p\u00e5 godt under 7 sekunder. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Problemene<\/h3>\n<p>Produktkalkylene holdt ikke stikk. De f\u00f8rste bilene ble solgt langt under selvkost. Med god ettersp\u00f8rsel beh\u00f8vde ikke d\u00e9t f\u00f8re til noen katastrofe, ettersom det bare var \u00e5 \u00f8ke prisene. Verre var det at det ble stans i leveransene av styresnekker fra <em>Adwest<\/em> p\u00e5 grunn av en arbeidskonflikt der. Adwest hadde ogs\u00e5 Rover og Triumph p\u00e5 sine kundelister, og det gikk rykter om at disse fikk sine leveranser f\u00f8r lille Gordon Keeble. Med 10 uferdige biler, gikk selskapet tom for penger. De hadde da produsert 83 biler. Heldigvis ble konkursboet kj\u00f8pt opp av nye eiere som fikk ferdigstilt de halvferdige bilene, og rakk \u00e5 bygge 6 helt nye biler. Selv om de hadde satt opp prisene, gikk det fortsatt ikke rundt \u00f8konomisk, og etter 99 biler ble det full stans. Bilen er restaurert, men har sitt opprinnelige interi\u00f8r. Eieren sitter i styret for Gordon Keeble Owners Club og representerte klubben p\u00e5 The London Classic Car Show 2023 hvor bildene er tatt.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Gordon Keeble Owners Club<\/h3>\n<p>Kj\u00f8per du en Gordon Keeble, b\u00f8r du sende en notis til klubben. De holder nemlig oversikt over alle bilene, og kan redegj\u00f8re for 90% av alle produserte biler. Forteller du bilnummeret, f\u00e5r du sikkert full historikk over kj\u00f8ret\u00f8yet ditt. Siden dette alltid har v\u00e6rt spesielle biler, har mange av eierne ogs\u00e5 v\u00e6rt spesielle. P\u00e5 det meste talte klubben 70 medlemmer. Eiernes engasjement holder ikke bare liv i bilene, men ogs\u00e5 p\u00e5 historien om selskapet. Stifterne John Gordon og Jim Keeble er dessverre g\u00e5tt bort, og flere av eierne begynner ogs\u00e5 \u00e5 trekke p\u00e5 \u00e5rene. Den lett aggressive grillen. Bakparten med st\u00e5ende baklys. St\u00e5lfelgene med senterbolt. Stor midtkonsoll med vippebrytere. Innredningen som opprinnelig var laget i skai. En modell som minner litt om modellen den var basert p\u00e5, Peerless fra slutten av 50-tallet. Men man kan ogs\u00e5 si at den har mye til felles med Iso Rivolta, og ikke minst, Iso Grifo. Det er ikke tilfeldig, ettersom <em>Renzo Rivolta<\/em> ble forespurt av <em>John Gordon<\/em> om \u00e5 produsere bilene for Gorden-Keeble. Det ble ingen avtale, men Rivolta hadde blitt inspirert av tegningene. Resultatet ble egne biler med tilsvarende st\u00e5lr\u00f8rsrammer og Chevrolet 327 cu in motor fra den italienske produsenten.
