Det hele startet i 1934, de f\u00f8rste bilene var det stort sett lisensproduserte modeller fra Fiat. Etter krigen ble tidligere modeller videref\u00f8rt. F\u00f8rst i 1951 kom Aronde som var den f\u00f8rste egenutviklete modell. Aronde ble umiddelbart en salgssuksess. Et annet viktig steg fremover var overtakelsen av Fords fabrikk i Frankrike. N\u00e5 fikk Simca st\u00f8rre personbiler inn i utvalget. Modellene var tidligere Ford Vedette som byttet navn til Simca. En liten bil med hekkmotor (Simca 1000) ble introdusert i 1962. Den ble sv\u00e6rt popul\u00e6r, og var i produksjon til 1978. Aronde ble erstattet av 1300\/1500 i 1963, og serien ble produsert med oppgraderinger frem til 1976. Den nye trenden med tverrstilt motor fulgte Simca opp med 1100 i 1968. I 1970 byttet Simca navn og ble til Chrysler France og bilene ble profilert med Chryslers logo. Simca 1307\/1308 (en helt ny modell) ble k\u00e5ret til \u00e5rets bil i 1976.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Simca Horizon<\/h3>\n<p>Horizon var en modell som i utgangspunktet skulle erstatte den popul\u00e6re Simca 1100. Den ble solgt mellom 1977 og 1985. I Europa ble den solgt under navnene Simca, Chrysler og Talbot. Navneforvirringen skyldtes at Chrysler avviklet sin europeiske satsing i 1978. og Peugeot overtok. Chrysler\/Simca fikk nytt navn og gikk videre som Talbot. Horizon var en behagelig bil med bra kj\u00f8reegenskaper, og ble bel\u00f8nnet med utmerkelsen \u201d\u00c5rets bil\u201d i 1979. P\u00e5 de mest eksklusive variantene var utstyrsniv\u00e5et bedre enn hos konkurrentene.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">En verdensbil med mange navn<\/h3>\n<p>Chrysler \u00f8nsket i utgangspunktet at dette skulle v\u00e6re konsernets \u201dverdensbil\u201d. Den ble lansert i USA b\u00e5de som Dodge og Plymouth. I Europa foregikk produksjonen i Frankrike, England, Spania og Finland. Selv med iherdig markedsf\u00f8ring og mange utmerkelser, ble modellen ikke noen suksess. Med s\u00e5 mange navn og til dels sviktende kvalitet, kunne den ikke m\u00f8te konkurransen p\u00e5 markedet.
