Modellen har \u00e9n fot i fortiden og \u00e9n i fremtiden. Den videref\u00f8rte trekk fra de klassiske XK-modellene og E-Type &#8211; samtidig som den banet vei for etterf\u00f8lgende sportslige modeller.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Ekte Jaguar-motor<\/h3>\n<p>Jaguar XK8 ble utviklet p\u00e5 et tidspunkt da Ford var i ferd med \u00e5 kj\u00f8pe seg inn i selskapet. Det er derfor n\u00e6rliggende \u00e5 forestille seg at merkets f\u00f8rste egenutviklede V8 stammer fra Fords motorprogram. Men AJ-V8 er signert Jaguar. Opprinnelig var det planlagt \u00e5 bygge 3 forskjellige varianter av motoren, V12, V8 og V6 &#8211; men endte opp med \u00e9n variant, nemlig 4,0 liters V8. Akkurat <em>den<\/em> beslutningen var nok Ford med p\u00e5 \u00e5 ta.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Flere ting ble delt<\/h3>\n<p>\u00c5 ha Ford som eier, betydde at XK8 kunne bruke samme plattform som dav\u00e6rende Aston Martin DB7. Mange synes at de to modellene ble for like hverandre &#8211; begge med typisk 90-talls design. Jaguars V8-motor ble for \u00f8vrig ogs\u00e5 tilgjengelig i Jaguar XJ &#8211; som XJ8 og Daimler &#8211; som Daimler V8, senere ogs\u00e5 i Jaguar S-Type. Ogs\u00e5 to andre modeller i Ford-familien fikk samme motor, nemlig Lincoln LS og Ford Thunderbird &laquo;3.9 liter&raquo; med en del modifikasjoner i forhold til Jaguar. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Etterf\u00f8lger til XJS<\/h3>\n<p>Da XK8 rullet ut til forhandlerne, hadde forgjengeren XJS v\u00e6rt i produksjon i 19 \u00e5r. Selv med en facelift p\u00e5 80-tallet kunne den ikke skjule alderen. Ved f\u00f8rste \u00f8yekast virker XK8 mindre og mer kompakt enn XJS, &#8211; men de har nesten identiske m\u00e5l, og begge er utformet som Gran Turismo, 2+2 coup\u00e9 og plass til to golfbagger i bagasjerommet. Innredningen i XK8 er preget av valn\u00f8ttre og mykt skinn, med sporty ratt og Jaguars typiske &laquo;J-gate&raquo; girspak. XJS er en bil man kj\u00f8rer med nette h\u00e5ndbevegelser, mens XK8 innbyr til r\u00f8ffere bruk &#8211; skj\u00f8nt verken XJS eller XK8 er utpreget sportslige.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<blockquote><p>&#8211; S\u00e5 fikk da Jaguar XK8 ingen Ford-komponenter i motorrommet? Ogs\u00e5 Jaguars 4,0-liters rekkesekser gir samme diskrete lyd. XK8 har et helt annet lydbilde. N\u00e5r man gir gass, kommer den dempede, r\u00e5 V8-lyden inn i bilen &#8211; et lydbilde som tidligere ikke har v\u00e6rt forbundet med Jaguar, men som passer sv\u00e6rt godt til en bil som XK8. Likevel er motoren silkemyk som Jaguars \u00f8vrige motorer. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">XK8 og XKR varianter<\/h3>\n<p>XK8 kom i produksjon som 1996 modell med intern modellbetegnelse X100. Den kunne man f\u00e5 enten som coup\u00e9 eller cabriolet. Det fantes ett drivverk, 4,0 V8, 32V med variabel ventilstyring og 5-trinns automatkasse fra ZF. Med 284 HK kunne 0-100 tilbakelegges p\u00e5 6,5 sekunder. Fra 1998 kunne ogs\u00e5 en kompressorutgave av motoren leveres. Den ga 363 HK som gjorde at 0-100 gikk unna p\u00e5 5,1 sekunder. Den banet ogs\u00e5 vei for fremtidens coupeer. I 2004 kom Jaguar ut med en ny utgave av XK &#8211; kalt X150. Endringene i den nye modellen &#8211; ny front og kombicoup\u00e9 hekk &#8211; er i en stil vi kjenner igjen i dagens modeller med blant annet F-type (X152). Motormessig ble X150 utstyrt med 2. generasjon av AJ-V8 motorer med 4,2 liter slagvolum p\u00e5 298 HK og 6-trinns automat fra ZF. Fra 2009 ble motoren erstattet med 3. generasjon p\u00e5 5,0-liter kompressor og 385 HK. <\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_47286\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-47286\" Nikasil gir \u00f8kt styrke og mindre friksjon enn spesialst\u00e5l, men de t\u00e5ler d\u00e5rlig svovelholdig bensin. Det rammet spesielt bileiere i USA hvor bensinen inneholdt mye svovel. Ber\u00f8rte bileiere fikk byttet til fabrikknye motorer. Skadede sylinderf\u00f4ringer gir d\u00e5rlig kompresjon. Da kan bilen blant annet bli tung \u00e5 starte og g\u00e5 ujevnt p\u00e5 tomgang. Jaguar gikk over til st\u00e5lf\u00f4ringer fra og med \u00e5rsmodell 2000. Sjekk bilens VIN-nummer. Hvis koden ender med 6 sifre, var bilen levert med Nikasil-f\u00f4ringer. Ender koden p\u00e5 bare 5 sifre, har den f\u00f4ringer av st\u00e5l. I Jaguar-fora sies det at hvis motoren er OK n\u00e5, vil man neppe f\u00e5 problemer.
