Det hjalp da produksjonen av biler og motorsykler startet i 1904. Sykkel- og motorsykkelproduksjonen fortsatte til 1924. Rover produserte en rekke biler i forskjellige prisklasser i mellomkrigstiden. En av modellene hadde en avansert motor p\u00e5 2132 ccm som var konstruert av nordmannen Peter Poppe. Fra 1945 konsentrerte Rover seg om familiebiler i mellomklassen. P\u00e5 50-tallet eksperimenterte Rover med gassturbindrift, men det ble bare produsert testmodeller. I denne perioden kom ogs\u00e5 Land-Rover som ble en suksess. Modellen ble senere supplert med Range-Rover. Nye modeller av familiebilene (P4) kom i 1949 med moderne design og st\u00f8rre modellutvalg. Denne serien levde frem til 1964 med noen endringer. I 1967 gikk Rover inn i Leyland Motor Corporation.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Rover 3500<\/h3>\n<p>Rover som var kjent for sine litt trauste og solide bilmodeller, overasket markedet i 1976. En helt ny modell s\u00e5 dagens lys. Luksusen og den store motoren var p\u00e5 plass men for f\u00f8rste gang hadde en Rover f\u00e5tt en 5-d\u00f8rs halvkombi modell i sitt produktutvalg. Dette var nye linjer fra en tradisjonell produsent av &laquo;finere&raquo; engelske biler. Den egentlige grunnen var nok at Leyland som ogs\u00e5 kontrollerte bilmerket Jaguar ikke \u00f8nsket konkurranse mellom egne bilmerker. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Med et hint av Ferrari<\/h3>\n<p>Linjene p\u00e5 den nye bilen var moderne og ekstremt str\u00f8mlinjeformet. Mange mente at den minnet om Ferrari Daytona &#8211; sikkert ikke noen bakdel. Teknisk var den nye bilen mer konservativ. Bortsett fra en 5 trinns girkasse var det tradisjonelle tekniske l\u00f8sninger. Interi\u00f8ret var elegant og luksuri\u00f8st med et sv\u00e6rt omfattende instrumentpanel. 2 \u00e5r etter introduksjonen ble det introdusert 2 nye modeller med mindre motor. I 1980 laget fabrikken et racingteam som deltok i banerace i flere \u00e5r med stor suksess.
