Et av de bilmerkene som bidro til dette var Citro\u00ebn.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Tidlig historie<\/h3>\n<p>Historien startet i 1919 da Andr\u00e9 Citro\u00ebn startet sin egen bilfabrikk. Med god erfaring fra annen industriproduksjon og flere studiebes\u00f8k hos andre bilprodusenter i USA l\u00e5 alt til rette og den f\u00f8rste modellen ble lansert i 1919. Den ble sv\u00e6rt godt mottatt siden den b\u00e5de var solid og velutstyrt og ga bilkj\u00f8perne god valuta for pengene. Nye modeller ble lansert samtidig som Citro\u00ebn som en av de f\u00f8rste bilprodusentene bygget ut et stort forhandlernett. Resultatet ble at fabrikken allerede 10 \u00e5r etter oppstart ble Frankrikes st\u00f8rste bilprodusent, Men ekspansjonen kostet og nye kapitalsterke eiere m\u00e5tte inn for \u00e5 avhjelpe den kritiske situasjonen. Det hjalp og den nyutviklede modellen Traction Avant kunne settes i produksjon. Modellen var i produksjon helt frem til 1957. I 1948 kom den nye lille modellen 2 CV som ble en favoritt blant den som ville ha en rimelig og ukomplisert bil. DS19 var en bil, som da den kom i 1955, var langt forut for sin tid. I 1960 kom den lille modellen Ami 6 p\u00e5 markedet. Det var en liten familiebil med et noks\u00e5 s\u00e6rt utseende takket v\u00e6re det skr\u00e5stilte bakvinduet.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Skapte en ny modellrekke<\/h3>\n<p>En kjent Citro\u00ebn modell var GS som ble lansert i 1970. En meget avansert familiebil som skulle fylle tomrommet i en modellrekke hvor det manglet mellomstore familiebiler. Den nye GS modellen var sv\u00e6rt avansert teknisk og med et str\u00f8mlinjeformet karosseri var den et hestehode foran sine konkurrenter. Men en liten luftkj\u00f8lt motor gav verken h\u00f8y fart eller behagelig klima inne i bilen. Motoren var sv\u00e6rt avansert og produsert av lettmetall med overliggende kamaksler. Bilen ble bel\u00f8nnet med tittelen &laquo;\u00e5rets bil&raquo; i 1971. En av grunnene til denne bel\u00f8nningen var et ekstremt str\u00f8mlinjeformet karosseri som plasserte bilen helt p\u00e5 topp n\u00e5r det gjaldt lav luftmotstand. Den avanserte hydrauliske avfj\u00e6ringen var noe helt nytt og s\u00f8rget for en behagelig biltur uansett veistandard. I tillegg til standardversjoner kom det flere p\u00e5kostede varianter. Etter hvert kom det ogs\u00e5 st\u00f8rre motorer p\u00e5 programmet. 1979 var \u00e5ret hvor det skjedde store endringer med denne modellen. De aller viktigste var nok at den fikk d\u00f8r bak og ble en skikkelig 5-d\u00f8rs med kombil\u00f8sning.
