Derfor ble det mer fokus p\u00e5 st\u00f8rre og bedre utstyrte familiebiler. Ford 17m ble et sterkt kort i denne kampen.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>Henry Ford startet bilproduksjon i 1903 da modell \u201dA\u201d kom p\u00e5 markedet. Det store gjennombruddet kom med modell \u201dT\u201d i 1908. Den var i produksjon til 1927. Modellen gjorde Ford til et verdensmerke og den ble produsert i flere land. Den neste modellen var \u201dA\u201d som ogs\u00e5 ble en suksess. I Europa startet sammensetting av modell\u201d T\u201d i England i 1911. Den f\u00f8rste egne europeiske modellen kom i 1932 med betegnelsen \u201dY\u201d. USA markedet fikk helt nye modeller i 1948. Med helt ny og lav design ble bilene storselgere. P\u00e5 50-tallet kom klassiske modeller som Thunderbird samt Skyliner med senkbar hard-top. Ford Consul og Anglia fra engelsk Ford var storselgere p\u00e5 samme m\u00e5te som Taunus fra Tyskland. Historien om Ford Taunus startet i 1939 med en modell som var en litt st\u00f8rre utgave av Eifel modellen. Denne modellen ble produsert frem til 1942. Etter krigen kom ikke produksjon av personbiler i gang f\u00f8r i 1948.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Nyutviklet motor og flere sikkerhetsdetaljer<\/h3>\n<p>De tyskproduserte Ford Taunus modellene folk flest husker fra 50 tallet er nok 12m og storebroren 15m. Med disse modellene tok Ford en stor del av markedet for mindre familiebiler. Men markedet \u00f8nsket ogs\u00e5 st\u00f8rre bilmodeller. Derfor startet Ford utviklingen av en st\u00f8rre Taunus modell i 1955. Den opprinnelige tanken var \u00e5 bruke samme motor som ble brukt i 15M men den viste seg \u00e5 v\u00e6re for svak. En helt ny og st\u00f8rre motor ble utviklet for den nye modellen som fikk navnet 17M. Modellen ble lansert i Norge h\u00f8sten 1957 og fikk god mottakelse. Modellen ble testet og beskrevet i Motortidende med sv\u00e6rt god omtale. Spesielt ble sikkerhetsdetaljene fremhevet. Elastisk ratt med forsenket nav var helt nye detaljer. Nytt var ogs\u00e5 d\u00f8rer med sikkerhetsl\u00e5s skulle hindre d\u00f8rene \u00e5 \u00e5pne seg ved en eventuell kollisjon. Sikkerhetspolstring p\u00e5 solskjermer og instrumentbrett var positivt. Og bilmodellen solgte godt p\u00e5 de aller fleste markeder.
