Det \u00e5ret ble bilfabrikken til Giovanni Battista Ceirano overtatt med produksjon, patenter og prototyper og Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino (Fiat) etablert. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Sm\u00e5, kjappe og velkj\u00f8rende<\/h3>\n<p>Blant de ansatte som fulgte med til Fiat, var Vincezo Lancia som var en kjent bilsportsut\u00f8ver. Fiat vant en rekke bill\u00f8p og merket ble kjent. I 1907 startet produksjonen av mindre og rimelige biler. I 1932 kom Fiat 508 Balilla, en sv\u00e6rt moderne liten bil. Utseendet minnet om datidens amerikanske biler, bare mye mindre. Teknisk var den bedre utstyrt enn konkurrentene. Trendsettende var ogs\u00e5 den lille 500 som kom i 1936 og fortsatte frem til 1955 med endringer og forbedringer. Modellene 500, 600, 850 og 1100 ble sv\u00e6rt popul\u00e6re familiebiler p\u00e5 50- og 60- tallet. I 1969 kom 128 som var Fiats overgang til forhjulsdrift. I denne lille bilen tilb\u00f8d Fiat sine kunder en sv\u00e6rt enkel bil som manglet det meste. Men bilen var sv\u00e6rt rimelig b\u00e5de i anskaffelse og i drift. Den minimale st\u00f8rrelsen gjorde den meget anvendelig i trange byer og den ble utrolig popul\u00e6r spesielt i Italia. Modellen som kom i produksjon, var forbedret i forhold til prototypen, s\u00e5 den nye lille modellen fra Fiat fikk mange lovord fra media. Det var litt kritikk fordi den kun ble levert med et stofftak som kunne foldes bakover og gj\u00f8re bilen til en halvveis kabriolet. Men da Fiat ville eksportere den til USA ble det problematisk. Nye regler i USA la store restriksjoner p\u00e5 utforming og montering av kj\u00f8relys. Resultatet ble at fabrikken produserte en egen modell for USA. Den hadde noen merkelige lykter som delvis var montert oppe p\u00e5 panseret. Modellen ble produsert til 1975 med l\u00f8pende endringer.
