Det var i denne modellen Toyota la egenskapene som formet bilmerket til hva det er i dag. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3>&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">En japansk dr\u00f8m<\/h3>\n<p>Den f\u00f8rste Crown-modellen (Toyopet Crown) var en ganske enkel bil, knapt p\u00e5 st\u00f8rrelse med en Moskvitch og i vestlig m\u00e5lestokk ikke s\u00e6rlig mye \u00e5 skryte av p\u00e5 veien heller. Men for den jevne japaner var en s\u00e5nn bil uoppn\u00e5elig. Folks h\u00e5p var at tidene skulle bli bedre bare man jobbet hardt. Kanskje var det derfor bilen ble markedsf\u00f8rt under slagordet <em>&laquo;A Crown, Someday&raquo;<\/em>. En japansk dr\u00f8m?<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">En bil for &laquo;executives&raquo;<\/h3>\n<p>Min erfaring med Toyota Crown startet med Crown (VI), den sjette i rekken. P\u00e5 begynnelsen av 80-tallet bodde jeg et par \u00e5r i Saudi Arabia. Et eldorado for bilentusiaster som meg. Vanligvis brukte jeg en robust firehjulstrekker p\u00e5 de vel 10 milene jeg m\u00e5tte kj\u00f8re hver dag. Jeg fikk ofte l\u00e5ne administrasjonsbilen til avveksling. Det var firmabilen til min kollega, Stuart, som administrerte virksomheten v\u00e5r i Riyadh. En engelskmann med lang fartstid under fremmede himmelstr\u00f8k og sans for fine biler. Stuart var en typisk executive for sin tid &#8211; ustanselig p\u00e5 farten i veltrimmet bart, hvit skjorte, slips og stresskoffert. Hans hvite Toyota Crown 2800 SuperSaloon med bl\u00e5tt velourinteri\u00f8r var langt fra noen eye-catcher i det velst\u00e5ende olje-konged\u00f8mmet. Men Toyota Crown manglet ikke klasse. I f\u00f8lge <em><a href=\"https:\/\/regnr.info\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>regnr.info<\/strong><\/a><\/em> skal det v\u00e6re 49 biler igjen p\u00e5 norske skilter av modell\u00e5r 1979 &#8211; 1983. Mange har dessverre havnet i pressa p\u00e5 grunn av rust. N\u00e5r jeg s\u00f8ker blant avregistrerte, skrotede biler, finner jeg ogs\u00e5 ekstrem h\u00f8y km-stand p\u00e5 flere. Toyota Crown m\u00e5 ha v\u00e6rt elsket av drosjeeiere. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Utstyrsgrad og motorisering<\/h3>\n<p>Den r\u00f8de Crown&#8217;en er en Deluxe Diesel. Utstyrsgrad <em>Deluxe<\/em> har glattere og enklere interi\u00f8r enn det flotte velourinteri\u00f8ret i <em>SuperSaloon<\/em>. Executive-biler rundt 1980 hadde plysjinteri\u00f8r &#8211; sjelden skinnseter. I f\u00f8lge registreringsstatistikken, ser alle <em>SuperSaloon<\/em> ut til \u00e5 ha blitt levert med 2,8 liter rekkesekser. Det finnes ogs\u00e5 noen f\u00e5 eksemplarer av <em>Deluxe 2600<\/em>. Toppfarten er 140 km\/t. Turbodiesel ble f\u00f8rst tilgjengelig i den neste modellen, som ikke ble tatt inn til Norge. Crown diesel kan sammenlignes med datidens <a href=\"https:\/\/terjebjornstad.com\/no\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/mb-w123-240d-1080x720.png\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Mercedes-Benz 240D<\/strong><\/a>. Motoren trengte forholdsvis mye turtall for \u00e5 henge med i den hektiske, arabiske trafikkflyten. Jeg forestilte meg at automat ville ha v\u00e6rt et bedre valg, skj\u00f8nt den manuelle 5-trinnskassa var absolutt lett \u00e5 jobbe med. Understellet var fast, p\u00e5 typisk japansk vis, uten \u00e5 v\u00e6re ukomfortabel. Den bakhjulsdrevne storbilen f\u00f8ltes som en kompaktbil n\u00e5r man kastet den inn i svinger og foretok unnaman\u00f8vrer &#8211; i hvert fall sammenlignet med Chevrolet Caprice som jeg av og til leide p\u00e5 utenbys oppdrag. Til og med i hjemlandet Japan. Jeg aner ikke hvorfor bilene forsvant, men gjetter p\u00e5 at forklaringen er rust, ekstremt h\u00f8y km-stand og at det fine velourinteri\u00f8ret ikke ser ut til \u00e5 t\u00e5le tidens tann s\u00e6rlig godt. Det er plysjbilen du m\u00e5 ha, selv om du m\u00e5 f\u00e5 sydd nytt interi\u00f8r! 2800 SuperSaloon med lav km-stand. Det beste eksemplaret jeg kunne finne til salgs p\u00e5 nettet, var en 1982-modell med 182 000 km i n\u00e6rheten av Stuttgart. Den koster 10 000 euro, og kan kj\u00f8res hjem for egen maskin. Setene i denne bilen var dessverre byttet ut med de mer slitesterke setene fra Deluxe, men plysjen var fremdeles intakt i innertrekket p\u00e5 d\u00f8rene. Skal du ha noe mer eksotisk, fantes Crown ogs\u00e5 som 2 og 4-d\u00f8rs Hardtop, men f\u00e5 av dem fant veien ut av Japan.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Diesel eller plysj?<\/h3>\n<p>Den r\u00f8de Crown&#8217;en p\u00e5 bildet ser ut til \u00e5 ha sluppet saltede veier. Dieselmotoren, omtalt som Toyotas <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Toyota_L_engine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>L-motor<\/strong><\/a>, var popul\u00e6re i b\u00e5de HiAce og HiLux.
