Dette er nr 039 av 249.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Har du h\u00f8rt om Pontiac MERA? Kanskje en av verdens mest sjeldne bilmodeller? Man ser tydelig konturene av en annen bilmodell, nemlig Ferrari 308. Det hele er en ganske bisarr historie.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Begynte med Pontiac Fiero<\/h3>\n<p>Det begynte med Pontiac Fiero, den lille 2-seters midtmotoriserte sportsbilen som ble produsert mellom 1984 og 1988. Fiero kunne ha blitt en kjempebra konstruksjon, hadde det ikke v\u00e6rt for at konstrukt\u00f8rene m\u00e5tte begrense seg til GMs eksisterende delelager. Motorer, girkasser og  hjuloppheng ble plukket fra eksisterende produksjonslinjer. Forhjulsopphenget skal visstnok ha blitt hentet fra Chevette-produksjonen. Fiero ble ingen d\u00e5rlig bil, men den manglet sportslighet og &laquo;fl\u00e6rr&raquo;. Ytelsene sto ikke i stil til det sportslige utseende.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nUtseende var det eneste konstrukt\u00f8rene kunne boltre seg med. Karrosseriet ble laget i glassfiber p\u00e5 space frame st\u00e5lr\u00f8rsramme. En kan vel si at &laquo;good looks&raquo; var et av Fieros st\u00f8rste fortrinn. Det forsto ledelsen i Pontiac ogs\u00e5. Modellen for det nye designet var bilen Tom Selleck kj\u00f8rte i datidens popul\u00e6re TV-serie, Magnum PI. Ferrari&#8217;s lille 308 GTS deler sine identiske ytre m\u00e5l med FIero. Pontiac Fiero var som skapt for replika-prosjekter. I dag kan det faktisk v\u00e6re vanskelig \u00e5 finne en Fiero som ikke har f\u00e5tt nytt liv som donorbil til en replika av ett eller annet slag. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Var ingen replika<\/h3>\n<p>MERA var en egen modell, annonsert via utvalgte Pontiac-forretninger. Reklameplakater og salgsbrosjyrer fortalte om den nye modellen, MERA fra &laquo;Corporate Concepts Limited &#8211; constructed on a new Pontiac Fiero space frame&raquo;. MERA-forvandlingen ble alts\u00e5 kun utf\u00f8rt p\u00e5 nye biler. Pontiac&#8217;s business-id\u00e9 var \u00e5 selge <em>biler<\/em>, ikke replika-kit. Den ekte Magnum PI-bilen.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n<p>Vurdert som et replika-bygg, ville MERA v\u00e6rt innenfor loven. Det ble aldri lagt skjul p\u00e5 at produktet var basert p\u00e5 Pontiac Fiero. Det ble ikke benyttet Ferrari-logoer noen steder. Felgene var Fiero-felger opplakkert i bilens farge, senere en annen type, kalt Cromodora Pentaspoke. De hadde en form som lignet Ferrari-felgene til 308, men var langt fra identiske. Under skallet var alt 100% Fiero, med MERA-dekaler i stedet for Fiero. Ferrari gikk selvf\u00f8lgelig til sak mot GM og vant. MERA var ikke et vanlig replika-kit. Det var en <em>bilmodell<\/em> som uten tvil var en kopi av den popul\u00e6re Ferrari&#8217;en. Corporate Concepts rakk \u00e5 lage 249 biler f\u00f8r produksjonen ble stanset. Hittil er det sporet opp i underkant av 100 biler hvorav \u00e9n n\u00e5 er p\u00e5 norske skilter. Disse bilene er i dag uhyre sjeldne og i \u00f8yeste grad bevaringsverdige. De har et ytre som kunne ha \u00e5 stammet fra MERA-prosjektet, men er tatt ett steg videre for \u00e5 ligne p\u00e5 Ferrari. Gule Ferrari-logoer &laquo;over alt&raquo;, ekte Ferrari-felger og et modifisert interi\u00f8r med sort lakk og pappmasj\u00e9, eller hva det m\u00e5tte v\u00e6re. Det finnes sikkert \u00e9n og annen MERA som har mistet sin identitet gjennom forskjellige eiere. Uten historie kan en sliten MERA risikere \u00e5 bli tatt for \u00e5 v\u00e6re en vanlig Ferrari-replika. Dem er det mange av. Det sies at nesten alle Fiero-baserte Ferrari 308- og 328-replikaer er utstyrt med glassfiber som er laget p\u00e5 basis fra en Pontiac MERA. Derfor kan det i ettertid v\u00e6re vanskelig \u00e5 skille mellom biler som var en del av det opprinnelig MERA-prosjektet, &#8211; og hvilke som er konvertert i ettertid. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Hva er en Pontiac MERA verdt?<\/h3>\n<p>En alminnelig, kj\u00f8rbar Pontiac Fiero ligger prismessig rundt $ 3-7 000 (USD). Mange biler er imidlertid modifisert og delvis restaurerte. Vakre eksemplarer kan koste over $ 20 000. Det ser ut som Fiero for lengst har oppn\u00e5dd kultstatus og f\u00f8lgelig v\u00e6re fremtidige klassikere.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nAlminnelige Ferrari-replikaer, solgt som Fiero, kan koste over $ 20 000 (kilde: autotrader.com). Siden det finnes s\u00e5 f\u00e5 MERA&#8217;er, finnes for \u00f8yeblikket ingen til salgs p\u00e5 de store, nettbaserte bilb\u00f8rsene. En autentisk MERA i god stand, vil sannsynligvis kunne omsettes for rundt $ 25 000 &#8211; det samme som den kostet som ny. En MERA med orignale dekaler og felger er ikke bare en klassiker, &#8211; det er ogs\u00e5 en sjelden bil som vil stige i verdi.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Bevaringsverdig
