Gjennom \u00e5pent soltak kunne jeg h\u00f8re den karakteristiske hviningen i Variomatic&#8217;en. DAF hadde nemlig automatgir som standard. Verdens f\u00f8rste CVT-gir. Men i motsetning til dagens st\u00e5lbelter, hadde DAF et annet materiale i beltene. Samme type conveyor belts som vi finner i sm\u00e5 industimaskiner og i landbruket. Hviningen i to remmene gjorde at svenskene kalte DAF for Remjohan. Jeg aner ikke hvorfor. Men den ble vel ofte kj\u00f8rt av en snill farbror som kanskje hette Johan, Gustaf, Albert eller noe s\u00e5nt?<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nDa DAF&#8217;en ankom \u00d8vrevoll denne s\u00f8ndagen, sto det allerede en gul DAF 66 Coup\u00e9 der p\u00e5 svenske skilter. Variomatic var forl\u00f8peren til dagens CVT-girkasse. DAF 66 var eneste modell som tilb\u00f8d automatgir i en rimelig bil.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">K70<\/h3>\n<p>Jeg innser hvor viktig det er at noen tar vare p\u00e5 praktiske biler som DAF. Jeg legger ved bilder av en annen klassiker som ofte er innom Cars and coffee p\u00e5 \u00d8vrevoll Galopp. Volkswagen K70 var modellen som skulle ta over mellomklassemarkedet etter de luftavkj\u00f8lte Volkswagen 411 og 412. Opprinnelig var K70 utviklet som NSU og K70 skulle indikere 70 hestekrefter. Men modellen endte opp med 75 hester i en vannavkj\u00f8lt 1600-motor og forhjulstrekk. Til tross for at K70 var en moderne bil, b\u00e5de med hensyn til teknologi og design, ble den aldri s\u00e6rlig popul\u00e6r i Norge. De som kj\u00f8rte luftavkj\u00f8lte biler var ikke klar for K70 som vel var to bilgenerasjoner etter 411 og 412. Skulle K70 sl\u00e5 an, m\u00e5tte den ta kunder fra andre merker. Kunder som foretrakk forhjulsdrift i en tid da forhjulsdrift var forbehold biler som Audi, Citro\u00ebn, Renault og Saab.
