Den vant stor popularitet her hjemme ogs\u00e5, skj\u00f8nt ikke like mye elsket som lenger syd i Europa. Den fikk rykte p\u00e5 seg for \u00e5 ha flere feil enn gjennomsnittet, og at flere av de tekniske l\u00f8sningene, blant annet fj\u00e6ringssystemet, var etter sigende vanskelig \u00e5 reparere. Sannheten var at kulde og veisalt stakk kjepper i hjulene. Derfor, n\u00e5r jeg finner DS&#8217;er p\u00e5 bilsamlinger i Norge, ser jeg at de fleste er importert i nyere tid, ofte totalrenoverte. Det er ikke s\u00e6rlig mange DS&#8217;er her heller, men nesten alle er originale biler. Jeg tar ukentlige timer i fransk konversasjon p\u00e5 et sted der naboen eier en flott DS i burgunder med hvitt tak. Denne bilen har jeg ikke kunnet fotografere da den st\u00e5r parkert p\u00e5 privat grunn. Men i dag hadde l\u00e6rerinnen min spurt eieren om ikke jeg kunne ta bilder. Han hadde derfor kj\u00f8rt Citro\u00ebn&#8217;en sin ut p\u00e5 gaten for en photo shoot. Bilen har v\u00e6rt i samme families eie siden ny. Det er en 1971-modell med doble frontlys som f\u00f8lger veien. Det var i 1968 at Citroen DS\/ID fikk en facelift. Da fikk den ogs\u00e5 et redesignet dashbord som ligner mer p\u00e5 samtidens biler<\/p>\n<p>Den burgunderr\u00f8de Citroen DS fra Langedoc-regionen er helt original. I l\u00f8pet av noen-og-f\u00f8rti \u00e5r har den f\u00e5tt ny lakk. Obligatorisk, i f\u00f8lge eieren. Som bruksbil b\u00e6rer den en vakker patina som vitner om en original, autentisk, ren, sunn og rustfri bil. En bil flere av firmaene som lever av \u00e5 restaurere DS&#8217;er, nok gjerne ville sl\u00e5 kloa i. Da ville de oppgradere den hydropneumatiske fj\u00e6ringen med deler fra XM. De vil oppgradere bremsene med deler fra CX. De vil kanskje lakkere bilen sort eller gr\u00e5, etter hva som er p\u00e5 moten akkurat n\u00e5, og byttet orignalinventaret med nytt i skinn med hodeputer. Deretter vil den bys for salg i samme prisklasse som en ny, p\u00e5kostet familiebil koster i dag. Jeg noterer meg hvor bra gummidelene ser ut i forhold til alderen. Dette er en bil som lever i beste velg\u00e5ende, og som vil gj\u00f8re det i mange \u00e5r fremover med pent stell. Fine originale biler som denne, b\u00f8r ikke renoveres.<\/p>\n<p>Kj\u00e6rt barn har mange navn. P\u00e5 baklokket st\u00e5r det &laquo;D Super&raquo;, noe som leder tankene til DS. Men DS er sannsynligvis ingen teknisk betegnelse. Uttalt p\u00e5 fransk, l\u00e5ter det som &laquo;D\u00e9esse&raquo;, fransk for gudinne. Typisk fransk. I de skandinaviske landene ble den kalt for noe s\u00e5 uromantisk som &laquo;padde&raquo;. Den ser ut som en padde, og med den hydrauliske fj\u00e6ringen kan den bevege seg som en padde, blant annet heise seg opp og ned. Og padde er slettes ikke noen d\u00e5rlig betegnelse p\u00e5 en bil. Audi benytter jo for tiden en \u00f8gle til \u00e5 beskrive sitt firehjulssystem. Hadde Citro\u00ebn valgt \u00e5 kalle sin DS for &laquo;padde&raquo;, ville den hete &laquo;crapaud&raquo;, uttales &laquo;krap\u00e5&raquo;.
