De hadde lansert sin nye modell 17M, internt kalt P7, som etterf\u00f8lger etter Taunus P5. Omtrent samtidig hadde Opel lansert sin nye Rekord C, en klar konkurrent til Ford 17M. Nye Rekord tok Europa med storm. Jeg har lest et sted at dette utl\u00f8ste hyppige m\u00f8teaktiviteter hos Ford. Den fikk samme kontur og samme understell som f\u00f8rste modell. I ettertid kan man sp\u00f8rre seg om Ford pr\u00f8vde \u00e5 gj\u00f8re nye sin 17M mer lik Opel Rekord C? &#8211; Eller kanskje de \u00f8nsket \u00e5 gj\u00f8re den nye modellen mer lik sin egen <em>forgjenger<\/em>? Suksessmodellen P5 ble i sin tid markedsf\u00f8rt under slagordene &laquo;Die Linie der Vernuft&raquo;. Faren min kj\u00f8rte 17M P7A. I vognkortet sto det at den var registrert sent i 1967, men jeg antar at den ble markedsf\u00f8rt som 1968-modell. Det var en lysebl\u00e5 1700 S Turnier, 3 d\u00f8rers stasjonsvogn, med V4, rattgir og firmalogo p\u00e5 sided\u00f8rene, &#8211; varebil uten bakre sidevinduer og baksete. Jeg fikk av og til v\u00e6re med p\u00e5 jobbturer da vi fl\u00f8y i lav h\u00f8yde over Haukeli mellom \u00d8stlandet og Vestlandet. Jeg husker at n\u00e5la dro opp til 140 km\/t ved flere anledninger. Faren min sa at 17M&#8217;en l\u00e5 bedre p\u00e5 veien enn andre biler. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Et stykke bilhistorie<\/h3>\n<p>I Norge solgte P7A relativt godt. Det ser ut som den solgte like godt som modellen f\u00f8r og etter. P7A ble produsert fra h\u00f8sten 1967 til sommeren 1968. Avl\u00f8seren, P7B, ble produsert helt frem til den ble erstattet av Consul\/Granada v\u00e5ren 1972. 17M\/20M\/26M basert p\u00e5 P7B er den mest popul\u00e6re modellen i Fords M-serie i Norge. Likevel &#8211; til tross for kort produksjonstid &#8211; finner forbausende mange P7A-modeller veien til bilsamlinger og treff.<\/p>\n<p>Ikke bare er P7A <em>sjeldnere<\/em> enn P7B, men etter dagens smak er den utvilsomt ogs\u00e5 <em>t\u00f8ffere<\/em>, spesielt modeller med falskt luftinntak p\u00e5 panseret. Smak og behag, selvf\u00f8lgelig, &#8211; men jeg synes at P7A&#8217;s utforming, med sine skarpe linjer og amcar-stil har t\u00e5lt tidens tann bedre enn sin etterf\u00f8lger, P7B. <\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Fakta<\/h3>\n<p>P-betegnelsen er en intern betegnelse som ble benyttet av Ford, K\u00f6ln. Det st\u00e5r rett og slett for &laquo;prosjekt&raquo;. Nummerserien er regnet fra slutten av andre verdenskrig. Seriene 12m\/15m og 17m\/20m bruker begge disse prosjektbetegnelsene, men det er ikke alltid annen hver gang de veksler nummer. Den f\u00f8rste serien heter heller ikke P1 men G13 og G4B.<\/p>\n<p>P5 er forgjengeren til P7-serien. Det veksles p\u00e5 bruk av betegnelse P7a og P7\/1. Man kan ikke si at det ene er feil og det andre er riktig, for begge betegnelsene har v\u00e6rt i bruk lenge. Og P6? Det er 12M\/15M produsert i samme periode som P7-serien. <\/p>\n<p>Fords M-serie mistet Taunus-navnet h\u00f8sten 1967. Alle P5-er heter derfor Taunus, men ingen P7 har det navnet selv om det ofte blir brukt. 12m\/15m P6 mistet navnet etter ett \u00e5r i produksjon. <\/p>\n<p>\u00d8nsker du \u00e5 lese mer om Ford M, finnes det en bok som heter &laquo;Et evig liv med Ford M&raquo;. Det er et lite paradoks med tanke p\u00e5 det lille markedet som var, og er, her til lands.
