Etter krigen begynte selskapet \u00e5 sondere muligheter for \u00e5 produsere biler. Prototypen var formgitt etter en flyvinge &#8211; et design som skulle leve helt til 1980-tallet. SAAB inngikk i SAAB-Scania i 1968. I 1989 kj\u00f8pte GM seg inn med 50% i personbildivisjonen. I 2000 kj\u00f8pte GM opp resten, og SAAB ble helt innlemmet i GM. I 2011 gikk SAAB konkurs.
