Den store grillen og de h\u00f8ye framskjermene fikk bilen til \u00e5 fremst\u00e5 som en stor bil. N\u00e5r den ble rattet rolig gjennom et bysentrum til lun motordur, fikk man n\u00e6rmest en majestetisk f\u00f8lelse. Bilen f\u00f8ltes st\u00f8rre enn den var.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Modellhistorikk<\/h3>\n<p>Produksjonen av Rekord P2 ble satt i gang midtveis i 1960. Den avl\u00f8ste Rekord P1 etter kun 3 \u00e5r i produksjon. Det Amerika-inspirerte designet med panoramavinduer og finner p\u00e5 baksjermene passet ikke lenger i tiden. P2 fikk et helt nytt design enn forgjengeren, men under skallet var det meste ganske likt. P2 hadde samme plattform og akselavstand som forgjengeren. Ogs\u00e5 motorene, understell, styring og bremser var de samme. Motortilbudene 1500, 1700 og 1700 S (med h\u00f8yere kompresjon). Disse motorene skal i store trekk v\u00e6re av samme type som Opel lanserte i 1937. De var ikke spesielt turtallsvillige, men fungerte bra p\u00e5 relativt lave turtall. Alle variantene hadde rattgir med enten 3 eller 4 trinns girkasser.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nModellen ble tilbudt som 2- eller 4-d\u00f8rs sedan, 3-d\u00f8rs stasjonsvogn (Caravan) og som 2-d\u00f8rs coup\u00e9. Selv var jeg bare en guttunge, men husker godt mange kj\u00f8returer i min onkels 1963 Opel P2 varebil. Den hadde et ordentlig baksete &#8211; og trolig registrert for 5 personer &#8211; til tross for at bakre sidevinduer var tildekket. En nabo hadde en 2-d\u00f8rs tofarget 1962-modell som jeg var med p\u00e5 en langtur i. Den ble senere plassert p\u00e5 en l\u00e5ve.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nMin p\u00e5stand om at Opel P2 var popul\u00e6re biler, bygger ikke p\u00e5 tall. Men n\u00e5r man studerer gamle postkort fra fergeleier, sm\u00e5byer og h\u00f8yfjellshoteller i Norge, finner man ofte disse bilene. Dessverre er det f\u00e5 igjen. Jeg har kun sett 2 biler langs veien de siste 10 \u00e5rene. Bilen p\u00e5 bildene er \u00e9n av dem. Interi\u00f8rbildet stammer fra en bil som er plassert p\u00e5 B\u00e5stn\u00e4s bilskrot. Interi\u00f8ret ser nesten uber\u00f8rt av \u00e5 ha st\u00e5tt forlatt for \u00e5pne vinduer i flere ti\u00e5r helt tildekket av mose p\u00e5 utsiden.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<figure
