Da den kom i 1971, var den spesiell. Kanskje den f\u00f8rste moderne sm\u00e5bilen.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<p>Det som kjennetegner en moderne sm\u00e5bil, er optimal utnyttelse av plassen. Fiat testet sin nye sm\u00e5bilplattform i <em>Autoobianchi Primula<\/em> noen \u00e5r tidligere. De neste bilen med dette konseptet var Fiat 128 og Fiat 127. Med 80 % av gulvarealet til r\u00e5dighet for personer og bagasje, ble plassen virkelig optimalt utnyttet.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nDe aller f\u00f8rste bilene manglet for \u00f8vrig noe viktig, nemlig full bakluke &#8211; s\u00e5kalt hatchback. D\u00e9t kom ikke f\u00f8r i mars 1972, noen uker etter at Renault 5 hadde blitt lansert med 3 d\u00f8rer. Den f\u00f8rste fra 1971 til 1977. Deretter serie 2 fra 1977 til 1981. Serie 3 ble produsert fra 1982 til 1983, like f\u00f8r modellen ble avl\u00f8st av Fiat Uno. Serie 1 fikk 900 cc motorer. I Serie 2 ble motorprogrammet utvidet med en 1050 cc motor i en Sport-utgave. Utvendige endringer omfatter blant annet en ny front og bakpart, sidevinduer som dannet en rett linje uten oppsving i underkant av bakre sidevindu. Innvendig forsvant treverk-m\u00f8nsteret fra instrumentbordet og instrumentene fikk et hi-tech preg. Serie 3 fikk et nytt frontparti med mer plast, samt plast p\u00e5 sidene og bak. Den r\u00f8de bilen, kalt &laquo;Ole&raquo;, sto utstilt p\u00e5 Asker Torv i anledning en utstilling av italienske biler. Den var da til salgs for 25.000 kroner. 1978-modellen var i daglig bruk frem til 2010 og hadde en kj\u00f8relengde p\u00e5 170.000 km.
