Men til tross for sitt smekre design, var den ingen utpreget sportsbil. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Volkswagen Type 14<\/h3>\n<p>Den formfagre Karmann Ghia ble satt i produksjon fra 1955 helt frem til 1974. Fra 1958 ble det ogs\u00e5 lansert en cabriolet-variant. Type 14 delte plattform og motorer med Type 1 &#8211; den opprinnelige Volkswagen. Det ble &#8211; parallelt med Type 14 &#8211; ogs\u00e5 laget en Type 34. Det var en variant basert p\u00e5 Type 3 (notchback) som skulle v\u00e6re mer moderne og tilby mer plass &#8211; og med tiden overta stafettpinnen etter den opprinnelige modellen. Etter som \u00e5rene gikk, viste det seg at Type 34 ikke oppn\u00e5dde samme popularitet som originalen. Type 34 ble derfor kun produsert i modell\u00e5rene 1962 til 1969. I ettertid kan man trygt si at den originale Karmann Ghia har en tidl\u00f8s eleganse. I 1961 ble det gjort en forandring hvor frontlysene ble plassert noe h\u00f8yere, s\u00e5nn at krummingen i overkant av framskjermene ble mindre fremtredende. I etterf\u00f8lgende \u00e5r kan man skue endringene p\u00e5 baklysene. De ble endret i 1961, 1970 og 1972. Fra 1970 ble de synlige fra siden. Ogs\u00e5 de fremre blinklysene ble endret fra \u00e5 v\u00e6re runde til rektangul\u00e6re og synlige fra siden. Fra 1955-1965 var det 1200-motorer som ytet mellom 30 og 34 HK. For modell\u00e5ret 1966 var det 1300-motor p\u00e5 40 HK. I modell\u00e5rene 1967 til 1970 ble bilene utstyrt med Volkswagens 1500-motor p\u00e5 44 HK &#8211; og 1600-motoren fra 1971 &#8211; da med 50 HK. Sett med dagens \u00f8yne, virker motoriseringen ikke s\u00e6rlig kraftfull, men s\u00e5 veide ikke bilene mer enn 810 kg, heller. <\/p>\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_8365\"
