Til tross for beskjedne ytre m\u00e5l ga bilen mye innvendig plass. Takket v\u00e6re tverrstilt motor foran, forhjulsdrift og lang akselavstand kunne kup\u00e9en fylle en st\u00f8rre del av bilen. I dag er dette vanlig for alle sm\u00e5biler, men i 1969 var det banebrytende. Fiat hadde allerede testet ut konseptet i ett ett av sine andre bilmerker. <em>Autobianchi Primula<\/em> kom aldri til Norge, ei heller mange andre land. Modellen var forut for sin tid &#8211;  utstyrt med motor fra Fiat 1100, montert p\u00e5 tvers foran med forhjulsdrift. Bilene fikk en helt ny 1100 OHC motor. I 1971 kom <em>128 Rally<\/em> &#8211; en mer sportslig variant med 1300 motor, 4 runde baklys og sportsdekor. I 1972 fikk standard modellen en facelift med ny grill, nye st\u00f8tfangere, nytt dashboard og ratt. I 1974 ble <em>128 Special<\/em> lansert. Den fikk ny front med firkantede lykter og utstyrt med 1300 motoren. basert p\u00e5 <em>Fiat 128 (Sport) Coup\u00e9<\/em> som ble produsert mellom 1971 og 1975. Det er bare oppf\u00f8rt 6 biler i kj\u00f8ret\u00f8yregisteret av denne modellserien, s\u00e5 det har trolig ikke v\u00e6rt noen import av disse bilene til Norge. Etterf\u00f8lgeren 128 3P, deimot, ble popul\u00e6r &#8211; spesielt blant de unge. 3P betyr 3 d\u00f8rer &#8211; alts\u00e5 en combi-coupe. Den var 22 cm kortere en sedan-utgaven, og motorutvalget besto av 1100 og 1300-motorer med doble forgassere og endret eksosmanifold som ga flere hk.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure
