De dukket f\u00f8rste gang opp som 1985-modell og ble produsert ut 1996 &#8211; og solgt parallelt med Clio. P\u00e5 sikt vil alle Renault 5 bli klassikere. I Frankrike kalles modellen &laquo;Supercinq&raquo;. De er fremdeles et hyppig innslag p\u00e5 veiene &#8211; som bruksbiler. Men mange har etter hvert ogs\u00e5 begynt \u00e5 dukke opp p\u00e5 biltreff, enten i rally-mundur basert p\u00e5 GT Turbo &#8211; eller som velholdte eller renoverte standardbiler. Super-femmer&#8217;n er helt klart en bil det kan l\u00f8nne seg \u00e5 ta vare p\u00e5. Som klassiker stiller den p\u00e5 h\u00f8yde med med Golf 2,<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Modellhistorikk<\/h3>\n<p>Renault 5 fikk en facelift for modell\u00e5ret 1988. Utvendig fikk den blant annet en ny grill lakkert i bilens farge, samt nye st\u00f8tfangere med spoilerleppe b\u00e5de foran og bak. Motorprogrammet ble ogs\u00e5 noe endret. I hovedsak var det 1.1 liters motor (47 HK) i innstegs-variantene og 1.4-liters motorer for \u00f8vrige. Kreftene varierte fra 60 til 90 hester avhengig av type. Som vanlig i fransk bilproduksjon, fortsetter man gjerne \u00e5 produsere gammel modell ogs\u00e5 etter at den nye er kommet i butikkene. I Frankrike er de popul\u00e6re som hobbybiler hvor man kan kj\u00f8re nostalgisk rally &#8211; rolig tempo i gruppe eller p\u00e5 tid langs lukket landevei eller bakkel\u00f8p. Mange av gjenv\u00e6rende R5 benyttes til dette. Bilene er velbrukte, matte og bulkete &#8211; men g\u00e5r fint. Motoriseringen var den samme som i standard R5. Express hadde ogs\u00e5 et dieselalternativ. Renault Express fikk 2 facelifts &#8211; en i 1991 og en i 1994. Forel\u00f8pig har ikke Renault Express noen verdi som hobbybil &#8211; i hvert fall ikke med lukket kasse. Salgsteamet skulle fordele demo-bilene for helgen &#8211; en h\u00e5ndfull flotte Volvoer og \u00e9n liten Renault 5.
