Motoren var midtplassert foran (montert langt bak i motorrommet), men delene var hentet fra Opels delelager. Motorene var enten 1.1 liter eller 1.9 liter hentet fra Opel Kadett. Uavhengig fj\u00e6ring foran, med et De Dion opplegg bak &#8211; ogs\u00e5 det hentet fra Opels delelager. Med egenvekt p\u00e5 bare 970 kg kunne 1.9-motoren med sine 90 hk gi sportslige egenskaper. 0-100 km\/t p\u00e5 11,5 sekunder var bra sammenlignet med datidens familiebiler &#8211; og andre sportslige biler med b\u00e5de 2 og 4 seter. Men mange ville nok hevde at bilens ytelser ikke levde opp til dens flotte ytre. Opel GT ble produsert mellom 1968 og 1974 &#8211; en tid hvor Opel var et ledende bilmerke i Europa. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Spesielle frontlykter<\/h3>\n<p>Inspirert av datidens Chevrolet Corvette (C3) fikk ogs\u00e5 Opel GT skjulte frontlykter. Disse ble operert mekanisk via en spak i kupeen. Mekanismen skal til tider ha krevd stor kraft for \u00e5 vridd lyktene opp og ned &#8211; sideveis.   <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_42710\"
