I norske prislister figurerte den som den billigste bilmodellen med 4-hjulstrekk.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Mange navn<\/h3>\n<p>I USA ble den solgt under navnet BRAT <em>(Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter)<\/em> &#8211; en forkortelse \u00e5penbart konstruert av markedsfolk. Poenget m\u00e5 ha v\u00e6rt at betegnelsen &laquo;brat&raquo; (&laquo;rampunge&raquo;) passet godt til en biltype som denne. Ungdommelig, cool og 4-hjulstrekk. I UK ble den solgt som &laquo;MV 284&raquo; eller &laquo;Shifter&raquo;. I Australia og New Zealand ble den kalt &laquo;Brumby&raquo;. Her hjemme ble den solgt som Subaru 1800 4WD, skj\u00f8nt mange valgte nok \u00e5 kalle den for Subaru Pickup. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Modellhistorikk<\/h3>\n<p>Modellen var egentlig en pickup-variant basert p\u00e5 Subaru&#8217;s stasjonsvogn. Den ble produsert i to versjoner, den f\u00f8rste fra 1978-1981 basert p\u00e5 Subaru 1600 4Wd &#8211; den andre fra modell\u00e5r 1982 til 1994 basert p\u00e5 Subaru 1800 4WD. Jeg er usikker p\u00e5 om det ble tatt inn noen Subaru pickup av f\u00f8rste generasjon. Husk at importen av Subaru til Norge startet f\u00f8rst i 1975 i et meget beskjedent antall. Til tross for en ganske stor motor og 4-hjulstrekk, bar bilene preg av \u00e5 v\u00e6re billige. Akselerasjon fra 0-100 gikk unna p\u00e5 13,9 sekunder &#8211; som var ganske alminnelig for familiebiler. Boksermotoren p\u00e5 1,8 liter &#8211; ga 82 hk og et dreiemoment p\u00e5 132 Nm ved 3200 omdreininger. Hva som gir bilene et snev av kultstatus, er at de ble produsert for det amerikanske markedet. Typiske ungdomsbiler med fancy striping og T-roof med takluke p\u00e5 hver side som kan vippes opp eller fjernes. Man kan vel tilf\u00f8ye at tidlige Subaru-modeller ikke var regnet for \u00e5 v\u00e6re s\u00e6rlig vakre. I ettertid ser man ofte at d\u00e9t ofte kan gj\u00f8re bilmodeller attraktive som klassikere.<\/p>\n\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_79965\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-79965\" style=\"width:
