Bilene var relativt enkle, konvensjonelt bygget med bakhjulsdrift og sv\u00e6rt driftssikre, noe som gjorde Toyota Cressida popul\u00e6re over hele verden.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">En verdensbil<\/h3>\n<p>Toyota Cressida var en verdensbil som ble solgt p\u00e5 flere kontinenter under flere navn. Da modellen kom i salg som 1977-modell, trodde mange at det var en helt ny modellserie fra Toyota. I virkeligheten var det etterf\u00f8lgeren etter mellomklasse-bilen <em>Toyota Mark II<\/em>. Toyota fikk nemlig problemer med \u00e5 fortsette \u00e5 bruke modellnavnet &laquo;Mark&raquo; i USA, ettersom det var knyttet til tidligere Lincoln-modeller. De var overalt &#8211; i byene og langs st\u00f8vete og steinete kamelveier, med bulker, flagrende gevanter og hjulene vridd i alle retninger. En rask gjennomgang i bilregisteret viser at alle variantene ble solgt i Norge. Videre ser det ut til at samtlige biler hadde 2,0 liters 4-sylindret motor med 90hk (18R). Cressida kunne ogs\u00e5 leveres med rekkeseksere p\u00e5 henholdsvis 2,0 liter og 2,6 liter, samt en 2,2 liters dieselmotor &#8211; men de gikk sannsynligvis til andre markeder? 6-sylindrede motorer var viktig for at Toyota Cressida skulle lykkes i USA. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Som hobbybil<\/h3>\n<p>Linjef\u00f8ringen er ganske &laquo;funky&raquo; med sine kurvede linjer. Bilene minner om amerikanske biler fra samme epoke. Toyota Cressida har begynt \u00e5 dukke opp i salgsannonser fra forretninger som omsetter sjeldne og eksklusive biler. Hvem skulle trodd det? Hva som taler for Toyota Cressida, er at de er noks\u00e5 enkle og konvensjonelle. Det st\u00f8rste problemet er nok \u00e5 f\u00e5 tak i et brukbart eksemplar. Det var ikke uvanlig \u00e5 foreta rust-reparasjoner p\u00e5 japanske biler etter bare 6-7 \u00e5r. Som gode driftsbiler ble Cressida&#8217;ene kj\u00f8rt til siste rest og deretter levert til vraking. Det gjelder ikke bare i Norge, men i hele verden, noe som kan gj\u00f8re det vanskelig \u00e5 finne biler og deler til prosjekter. Unntakene finnes &#8211; b\u00e5de som originale &laquo;survivors&raquo; med Tectyl-merke p\u00e5 bakruta og som modifiserte hobbybiler.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_34490\"
