Den deler understell, motorer og frontparti med Alfa Romeo 159. Bilpressen hadde helt andre forventninger til denne modellen enn som en forkortet versjon av 159. Forklaringen finner vi tre \u00e5r tidligere. Da ble Brera presentert som en konseptbil p\u00e5 bilutstillingen i Gen\u00e8ve. Italdesign Giugiaro hadde skapt en t\u00f8ff, fremtidsrettet coup\u00e9 med V8-motor fra Maserati. Produksjonsmodellen som ble vist tre \u00e5r senere, levde ikke opp til konseptbilen. Alfa Romeo burde kanskje ikke benyttet Brera som navn p\u00e5 modellen, men i stedet kalt den for Alfa Romeo 159 Coup\u00e9, eller noe s\u00e5nt. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Tipo 939<\/h3>\n<p>Under denne typebetegnelsen finner vi Alfa Romeo 159, Brera og en ny utave av Spider (!). Flere spurte seg om Brera var Alfa Romeos nye GTV? Brera og Spider ble kun produsert med de st\u00f8rste motoralternativene. Det var bensinmotorene 2,2 JTS 186 HK, 1750 TBI 200 HK og 3,2 V6 260 HK. Biler med V6 kunne ogs\u00e5 leveres med ALFA Q4 firehjulsdrift system. V6-motoren var for \u00f8vrig ikke den klassiske &laquo;Busso-motoren&raquo; men en ny motor utviklet av GM. Produksjonen av &laquo;Busso-motoren&raquo; ble nedlagt i 2005 og Brera var den f\u00f8rste modellen som tok den nye motoren i bruk, noe som bilpressen heller ikke likte.
