Den offisielle MG Midget fulgte opp arven i en mer moderne utgave.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Modellhistorie<\/h3>\n<p>Fra 1929 produserte MG sm\u00e5, lette, sportslige biler som p\u00e5 folkemunne ble kalt &laquo;Midget&raquo;. I 1955 ble de sm\u00e5 bilene med f\u00f8rkrigskarosseriet erstattet av MGA, en helt ny modell som ble en stor suksess. Men mange synes at den ble for stor. De savnet en liten, lett, sportslig bil som de gamle Midget-bilene. Da BMC fornyet sin Austin Healey Sprite &laquo;Frog eye&raquo; i 1961, ble MG Midget lansert som en &laquo;re-badge&raquo; av Austin Healey Sprite. De to modellene s\u00e5 nesten helt like ut, bortsett fra grillen hvor Midget fikk st\u00e5ende ribber og midtplassert MG-logo. Det f\u00f8rste \u00e5ret med 948-motoren fra Austin A35, deretter fikk Midget 1100-motoren.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nMk2 (1964-1966) fikk ny frontrute med trekantvinduer p\u00e5 sidene og vinduer som kunne sveives opp. Tidligere biler hadde delte sidevinduer som kunne skyves. Mk2 fikk ogs\u00e5 utvendige d\u00f8rh\u00e5ndtak. Tidligere kunne d\u00f8rene kun \u00e5pnes via innvendige h\u00e5ndtak.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nMk3 ble utstyrt med BMC&#8217;s 1275-motor og nedfellbar kalesje.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nI 1971 stanset produksjonen av Midget&#8217;s s\u00f8stermodell <em>Austin Healey Sprite<\/em>, men MG fortsatte \u00e5 produsere Midget frem til 1980 med flere modifikasjoner. En av de mest synlige endringene var den nye gummi-fronten, kalt &laquo;Rubber bumper&raquo; som var et resultat av USA&#8217;s &laquo;bumper-law&raquo;. En annen endring kom som f\u00f8lge av at BMC&#8217;s A-serie motorer ikke lenger tilfredsstilte amerikanske utslippskrav. Dermed fikk Midget 1500-motorene som ogs\u00e5 satt i blant annet Triumph Dolomite. til MG Midget temmelig moderate. En 1975-modell med 1275 cc motoren veier omtrent 735 kg. Den kunne akselerere fra 0-100 km\/t p\u00e5 mellom 12-14 sekunder og n\u00e5 en toppfart p\u00e5 i overkant av 150 km\/t. I en bil som Midget (3.5 meter), m\u00e5 fartsf\u00f8lelsen ha v\u00e6rt enorm.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_92603\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-92603\" style=\"width:
