Den nye modellen ble omtrent 25 cm kortere og mer enn 200 kg lettere enn sin forgjenger. Men Cadillac&#8217;en p\u00e5 bildet er langt fra noen liten bil. Vel var den mindre enn sine forgjengere, men sett i forhold til de andre bilene som parkert ved Hvervenbukta i Oslo, fremst\u00e5r Cadillac&#8217;en som enorm. Cadillac fortsatte downsizingen over flere \u00e5r.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Modellhistorikk<\/h3>\n<p>Cadillac&#8217;s 5. generasjon av DeVille ble produsert fra 1977 ut modell\u00e5ret 1984. Basert p\u00e5 bilder ser visuelle modellendringer ut som f\u00f8lger:<\/p>\n<p>1978-modellen fikk nytt m\u00f8nster i grillen og endrede baklys med krom-omramming. 1979-modellen fikk ny grill. I 1980 ble hele fronten endret, bakvinduet mer rettstilt og ny bakre st\u00f8tfanger &#8211; alt for \u00e5 gi bilen en strammere, mer oppreist form. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Motorisering<\/h3>\n<p>De f\u00f8rste \u00e5rene var standard motor 7,0 liter V8 med 180 eller 195 HK. Fra 1980-modellen ble eneste V8-alternativ en 6,0 V8 med 150 HK &#8211; som et ledd i l\u00f8pende downsizing. Fra 1982 \u00e5rsmodell ble V8-alternativet ytterligere nedskalert til 4,1 liter V8 med 136 HK.
