For \u00e5 spare penger arvet modellene Ford Maverick&#8217;s bakhjulsoppheng og kraftoverf\u00f8ring med r\u00f8tter tilbake til 60-tallets Falcon \u2013 med stiv bakaksel og bladfj\u00e6rer \u2013 noe de f\u00f8rste Mustangene faktisk ogs\u00e5 hadde. Amerikanske Ford Granada og Mercury Monarch hadde omtrent de samme ytre dimensjoner som tidligere Mustang mk1 hadde.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Drivlinjer hentet fra Ford-stallen<\/h3>\n<p>Mercury Monarch kunne leveres med to rekkeseksere og to V8\u2019ere, \u2013 302-motoren (5,0 liter) og 351-motoren (5,7 liter). Kj\u00f8pere kunne velge mellom tre girkasser, 3- eller 4-trinns manuell eller en 3-trinns automat. bilpressen<\/h3>\n<p>Samtidens bilpresse var blottet for entusiasme til Ford-konsernets nye mellomklassebiler. Det var ikke noe galt med bilene, men det var heller ikke s\u00e6rlig mye nytt heller. I en omtale av Granada 302 V8 i amerikanske <em>Road &#038; Track<\/em> fra lanserings\u00e5ret 1975 avslutter journalisten med at han synes bilen ville passet godt til sin mor. Likevel ble bilene popul\u00e6re. De ble levert med fargeavstemt dashbord, seter, tepper, d\u00f8rsider og setebelter &#8211; som bare amerikanske bilprodusenter kan. Coup\u00e9-utgaven med falsk landau-topp i vinyl, var moteriktig design for 1970-tallet. Ford Mustang mk2 hadde som kjent blitt kraftig nedskalert, og kunne ikke leveres med V8-motor da den ble lansert. Det kan ha lokket kj\u00f8pere over til Ford Granada og Mercury Monarch.
