Utvendige endringer i forhold til 1956-modellen var ny front, tykkere chrome sidelister og finner over bakskjermene. Fairlane 500 ble lansert som h\u00f8yeste utstyrsgrad. I likhet med forgjengeren ble det laget f\u00f8lgende varianter: 2- og 4-d\u00f8rer Sedan, 5-d\u00f8rer Stasjonsvogn, 2- og 4-d\u00f8rer Hardtop Club Victoria og Convertible Sunliner. Fairlane 2 omfattet ogs\u00e5 en helt ny pickup-l\u00f8sning, kalt <em>Ranger<\/em>. L\u00f8sningen innebar blant annet at taket automatisk ble l\u00f8snet og festet med skruer i festene over frontruten. For \u00e5 f\u00e5 plass i bagasjerommet ble taket foldet sammen i forkant. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Motorisering<\/h3>\n<p>Kj\u00f8pere av 1957-modellen kunne velge mellom V8-motorer fra Fairlane 1 p\u00e5 292 og 312 kubikktommer (henholdsvis 4,8 og 5,1 liter). De ble markedsf\u00f8rt som &laquo;Thunderbird V-8&raquo;. Rekkesekseren <em>Milage Maker<\/em> p\u00e5 223 kubikktommer var ogs\u00e5 med. Fra 1958 gikk 312-motoren ut av modellprogrammet og ble erstattet av to nye V8-motorer &#8211; 332 V8 (5,4 liter) og 352 V8 (5,8 liter). Kundene kunne velge mellom 3-trinns Ford-O-Matic automatgir eller 3-trinns manuelt gir. Fra 1959-modellen ble en nyere variant av Ford-O-Matic introdusert, kalt Cruise-O-Matic.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_68935\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-68935\"
