Fairlane var etterf\u00f8lger etter <em>Crestline<\/em> og toppmodell. Den var lett \u00e5 kjenne igjen ved sin markante tykke chrome-list formet som en b\u00f8lge eller vinge. Det var en &laquo;krone&raquo; i form av en chrome-b\u00f8yle som delte taket i to, hvor fremre del kunne leveres i gjennomsiktig, farget akrylglass &#8211; kalt <em>Crown Victoria Skyliner<\/em>. Modellen med metalltak ble kalt <em>Crown Victoria Coup\u00e9<\/em>. Innvendig ble dashbordet helt omarbeidet. 1955-modellen hadde speedometeret i en separat halvm\u00e5ne i sin helhet plassert over dashbordet med klokkene plassert mot midten. 1956-modellen fikk instrumentene samlet, og speedometeret ble innfelt som en del av instrumentpanelet. Det ble innf\u00f8rt endringer av sikkerhetsmessig art, som padding over dashboardet og sikkerhetsbelter (magebelte).
