SD1 er en intern modellbetegnelse som if\u00f8lge Wikipedia st\u00e5r for <em>Specialist Division 1<\/em> og henspeiler til intern organisering innenfor British Leyland-konsernet. I kj\u00f8ret\u00f8yregisteret ser jeg at &laquo;SD1&raquo;-koden er benyttet, s\u00e5 det er naturlig \u00e5 bruke det som en felles modellbetegnelse i dag som bilene regnes som veteran- og entusiastbiler. Det er sjelden man kommer over en Rover SD1. De var ikke spesielt utbredt i Norge. Min erfaring med modellen er ikke s\u00e5 mye \u00e5 snakke om. Jeg var passasjer en gang p\u00e5 1980-tallet &#8211; langs smale engelske landeveier i firmabilen til en britisk salgssjef. Jeg kan bekrefte at bilen virkelig hadde klasse.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Modellhistorikk<\/h3>\n<p>Rover SD1 ble produsert mellom 1976-1986 i to serier med oppgradering i 1982. Man kan fastsl\u00e5 om bilen er serie 1 eller 2 ved \u00e5 studere st\u00f8tfangerne og frontlyktene. St\u00f8tfangerne p\u00e5 serie 1-biler var av metall med gummi\/plastikk p\u00e5 sidene. De nye var av plastikk og krummet seg rundt hj\u00f8rnene. Den nye serien fikk nye frontlykter delvis omrammet av en smal chrome-list. De innvendige endringene var mer omfattende, med et helt nytt dashboard, treinnfellinger og mulighet for skinninteri\u00f8r.    Dette skulle gi bilene et premium-preg. I absolutt premiumklasse var ogs\u00e5 modellene <em>Vanden Plas<\/em> og <em>Vitesse<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_92201\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-92201\" rekkeseksere p\u00e5 2,3 og 2,6 liter &#8211; utviklet av Rover-Triumph (PE166) og kun brukt i Rover SD1. Det var selvf\u00f8lgelig Rover&#8217;s 3,5 liters V8-motor som var den gjeveste. I Rover Vitesse (1982-) fikk denne motoren innspr\u00f8yning og ga 190 hk, nok til \u00e5 dra 0-96 km\/t p\u00e5 7,1 sekunder og topphastighet p\u00e5 216 km\/t. Etter 1982 kunne man ogs\u00e5 f\u00e5 SD1 med firesylindret 2-litersmotor og 2,4 liters sugediesel. If\u00f8lge kj\u00f8ret\u00f8yregisteret kan det se ut som om disse motoralternativene ikke ble tatt inn til Norge, men det kan ogs\u00e5 henge sammen med at det ble solgt langt f\u00e6rre Rover-biler her p\u00e5 80-tallet, kanskje p\u00e5 grunn av endringer i salgsapparatet?<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Som hobbybil<\/h3>\n<p>Det finnes flere gode artikler p\u00e5 nettet som forteller hva man skal passe p\u00e5 ved kj\u00f8p av Rover SD1. Ikke uventet er rust nevnt som det st\u00f8rste problemet, spesielt p\u00e5 tidlige modeller. Biler med V8-motorer er mest popul\u00e6re, &#8211; ikke bare p\u00e5 grunn av det gode dreiemomentet disse motorene har, men ogs\u00e5 for at de er solide. Det er f\u00e5 biler i god stand til salgs p\u00e5 bilb\u00f8rsene. Bilen ble restaurert under Covid-epidemien etter \u00e5 ha blitt funnet i en oppkj\u00f8rsel i London hvor den hadde st\u00e5tt i 15 \u00e5r.
