Den ble laget i to serier, Ami 6 (1961-67) og Ami 8 (1968-78). Ami 8 fikk omarbeidet front og sedanutgaven fikk en mer tidsriktig skr\u00e5nende bakrute i stedet for den omvendte bakruten ogs\u00e5 kjent fra Ford Anglia. Mekanikken p\u00e5 Ami 8 deles nesten 100 prosent med Dyane og Mehari, med 602 kubikk luftavkj\u00f8lt 2-sylindret motor og &laquo;paraply-gir&raquo;. Ami Super fikk en st\u00f8rre firesylindret, luftavkj\u00f8lt boksermotor p\u00e5 1.0 liter &#8211; samme motor som satt i Citroen GS. Ami er omtrent like stor som en folkevognboble, det vil si cirka 4 meter lang. Jeg er imponert over hvor mye plass det ser ut til \u00e5 v\u00e6re i Ami stasjonsvogn, takket v\u00e6re den plassbesparende torsjonsfj\u00e6ringen. Den nyere lyse Ami 8 er fotografert ved et biltreff i Perpignan. Det er en utgave f\u00f8r 1968 facelift. Den burgunder-r\u00f8de bilen er ogs\u00e5 en tidlig utgave som ble avbildet p\u00e5 Citronnades-2024. Ogs\u00e5 den lysegr\u00e5 stasjonsvognen er en tidlig utgave &#8211; phase 1 &#8211; av Ami Break.
