Modellen kom etter hvert i skyggen av nye Peugeot 505 som s\u00e5 dagens lys i 1979, skj\u00f8nt 604 forble Peugeot&#8217;s flaggskip, &#8211; en bil for direkt\u00f8rer og presidenter. Noen biler ble strukket ut til limousiner av det velkente karosserimakeriet Heuliez. Standard motorisering var den s\u00e5kalte PRV-motoren, V6-motoren som ble utviklet i fellesskap mellom Peugeot, Renault og Volvo. Samme motorer satt ogs\u00e5 i blant annet Volvo 264 p\u00e5 slutten av 1970-tallet. Etter et par \u00e5r ble motorprogrammet utvidet med en 2,3 liter turbodiesel, som senere fikk et slagvolum p\u00e5 2,5 liter og 95 HK. De er rett og slett blitt borte, og det kan virke som f\u00e5 ser noen verdi i \u00e5 ta vare p\u00e5 dem. If\u00f8lge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.howmanyleft.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>howmanyleft.co.uk<\/strong><\/a> er det bare 8 biler igjen i UK. Peugeot greidde \u00e5 skape en prestisje-modell, men den ble ingen \u00f8konomisk suksess for Peugeot. Det dukket opp mange problemer i en turbulent tid for selskapet, men til tross for d\u00e5rlig salg, var ikke Peugeot 604 d\u00e5rligere enn sine konkurrenter. &#8211; Og den ser da fantastisk flott
