GT6 fikk 6-sylindrede motorer og ble bygget som en coup\u00e9 med fast tak og bakluke &#8211; og kunne leveres som 2+2 seter. Dermed ble GT6 regnet som en st\u00f8rre bil som kunne konkurrere mot MG MGB, mens Spitfire mer var en konkurrent til MG Midget. Motorene i GT6 var enten 2000 95 hk eller 2500 125 hk &#8211; begge rekkeseksere. Med tanke p\u00e5 at egenvekten kun er 964 kg (1973 Triumph GT6 2000 mk3) strekker kreftene til \u00e5 gi sportslige egenskaper &#8211; i hvert fall sammenlignet med bilene p\u00e5 den tiden. I den f\u00f8rste serien av GT6 sto ikke kj\u00f8reegenskapene i stil med ytelsene. For \u00e5 spare penger brukte Triumph tekniske l\u00f8sninger fra den rimelige personbilmodellen \u00abHerald\u00bb i b\u00e5de Spitfire og GT6. Senere, i 1969, kom mk2 med et forbedret bakhjulsoppheng. Det ble gjort ytterligere endringer p\u00e5 mk3.  <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Som hobbybil<\/h3>\n<p>I kj\u00f8ret\u00f8yregisteret er det oppf\u00f8rt 11 Triumph GT6 hvorav minst 4 er mk3. Det er uvisst om alle har skilter. Triumph GT6 tikker mange bokser som hobbybil. Det er en relativt enkel bil som man kan jobbe p\u00e5 selv. De har store motorer hvor det er relativt mulig \u00e5 hente ut ekstra krefter. I likhet med tilsvarende, engelske sportsbiler beh\u00f8ver man ikke kj\u00f8re veldig fort for \u00e5 f\u00f8le fart og kj\u00f8reglede. Hverken Spitfire eller GT6 egner seg ikke s\u00e5 godt for storvokste personer. Prisene p\u00e5 mk3 GT3 kan variere mye avhengig av tilstand og historikk. Dessuten er det ikke s\u00e5 mange til salgs. Utformingen av GT6 fikk mange til \u00e5 trekke likheter med Jaguar E-Type FHC. GT6 ble da ogs\u00e5 omtalt som &laquo;Poor man&#8217;s E-Type&raquo;. I dag vil jo en sportsbil som GT6, kun v\u00e6re en &laquo;godv\u00e6rsbil&raquo;. Det har flere tatt seri\u00f8st, ved at de har omdannet sine lukkede GT6 til \u00e5pne biler. Siden Spitfire og GT6 sitter p\u00e5 samme ramme, kan man sette et Spitfire karosseri p\u00e5 GT6 &#8211; det skal kun v\u00e6re 12 bolter som holder det p\u00e5 plass. Men d\u00f8rene b\u00f8r man ta med seg fra den originale GT6, med GT6&#8217;s originale sidevinduer med 3-kants luftevinduer. Bildet p\u00e5 bildet over er av en \u00e5pen GT6. S\u00e5 kan man jo tenke hvor synd det var, at Triumph ikke lagde GT6 som cabriolet ogs\u00e5.
