Den f\u00f8rste Galaxie kom som 1959-modell som en halv klasse over Fairlane. Husk at dette var en tid i amerikansk bilhistorie hvor bilene stadig vokste i st\u00f8rrelse. Galaxie 3 ble markedsf\u00f8rt som Galaxie 500 produsert som 1965- til 1968-modell med 500 XL og 500 LTD som toppmodeller. Kundene kunne velge fra hele Fords V8 motorprogram med 427-motoren som den st\u00f8rste i 1965. og senere den nye 428-motoren. Man kunne ogs\u00e5 velge en 3,9 liters rekkesekser. Da ble fronten endret med liggende doble frontlys, ikke verfikalt &laquo;stacked&raquo; som tidligere. Vertikale hovedlys p\u00e5 Galaxie tilh\u00f8rer 1965-, 1966- og 1967-modellene. Nytt for 1968-modellen var at den fikk skjulte frontlys og at Ford droppet Galaxie-betegnelsen for toppmodellen LTD.
