I 1949 var det lavbygde, treboks-designet sv\u00e6rt moderne sammenlignet med konkurrentene.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Nyhetene<\/h3>\n<p>Standard motoren var en L-Head (flattop) rekkesekser. For et pristillegg kunne man f\u00e5 bilen med den velkjente L-Head V8-motoren med 100 HK. Ytelsene var de samme som forgjengeren som var basert p\u00e5 et f\u00f8rkrigs-design. I f\u00f8lge reklamen kom nye Ford Custom med flere nyheter, som &laquo;Equa-Flo&raquo; motorkj\u00f8ling, &laquo;Deep Breath&raquo; inntaksmanifold, &laquo;Power Dome&raquo; forbrenningskamre og &laquo;Loadomatic&raquo; tenningssystem. Basert p\u00e5 navnene kunne man tenke seg at disse nyhetene var skapt av markedsfolk, ikke ingeni\u00f8rer. De vanligste var 4 d\u00f8rer sedan, kalt Fordor. Popul\u00e6r var ogs\u00e5 2 d\u00f8rer sedan, Tudor. Denne modellen har samme sidevinduer som Fordor, men mangler alts\u00e5 bakd\u00f8rene. Andre popul\u00e6re versjoner var 2 d\u00f8rer coup\u00e9, cabriolet og 2 d\u00f8rer stasjonsvogn. Ford Custom ble produsert som \u00e5rsmodeller 1949, 1950 og 1951.
