En bil som var forut for sin tid, skj\u00f8nt folk visste jo ikke d\u00e9t da bilen kom ut p\u00e5 markedet.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Et moderne konsept<\/h3>\n<p>En kompakt bil med 4 d\u00f8rer i et 2-boks design. Fasongen lignet en moderne kombi-coup\u00e9, men uten bakd\u00f8r var den teknisk sett en sedan. Konseptet med ett hjul i hvert hj\u00f8rne, tverrstilt motor og forhjulsdrift var tidligere innf\u00f8rt i Austin Mini &#8211; og Austin 1100\/1300 var teknisk sett en utvidelse av Mini med samme konsept. Den nye modellen fikk Hydralastic fj\u00e6ringssystem &#8211; komfortabelt og plassbesparende. Man kunne f\u00e5 modellen enten med 2 d\u00f8rer eller 4 d\u00f8rer. Senere kom den i stasjonsvognutgave, kalt <em>Countryman<\/em>. ADO 16 ble nemlig lansert som: Austin, Morris, MG, Riley, Wolseley og Vanden Plas Princess. Det var  ikke bare bilenes front som ble endret.
