De f\u00f8rste bilene hadde f\u00e5tt motorer fra BMW, og karosseriene lignet f\u00f8rkrigs BMW. Senere, fra Bristol 404 (1953) fikk bilene det uttrykket de har beholdt helt frem til nedleggelsen i 2011. Et sv\u00e6rt langt frontparti med en 2-d\u00f8rer kup\u00e9. Fra 1961 kom 407 &#8211; den f\u00f8rste modellen som fikk V8-motorer fra Chrysler. Serie 2 fikk en oppgradert versjon av Chryslers A motor p\u00e5 318 kubikktommer. Denne motoren ble ogs\u00e5 brukt i Bristol 410. Etterf\u00f8lgeren 411 ble f\u00f8rst bygget i 5 serier, men senere &#8211; etter at 412 var introdusert &#8211; ble det bygget en 6. serie av 411. Sannsynlig skjedde dette fordi utseendet p\u00e5 412 var s\u00e5 spesielt, at enkelte kunder \u00f8nsket \u00e5 f\u00e5 tilbake 411. I mine \u00f8yne fremst\u00e5r Bristol 411 serie 3 til 6 som det beste alternativet i 400-serien. Bristol 411 fikk en 383-motor (6,3 liter) men fra serie 4 en st\u00f8rre motor (400 cu.in., 6,6 liter) men med lavere kompresjon og f\u00e6rre hestekrefter. Innvendig var det mye n\u00f8ttetre og skinn og rikholdig instrumentering. Det hele blir ganske overd\u00e5dig, og man kan forestille seg at Bristol appellerer til en eldre garde herrer med pondus, gjerne med bakgrunn fra milit\u00e6ret. Det jeg ikke liker med Bristol, er at n\u00e5r man studerer dem p\u00e5 n\u00e6rt hold, kan man finne steder hvor karosseri-skj\u00f8tene varierer mer enn man ville finne p\u00e5 en bil laget av moderne roboter. Sm\u00e5 skavanker i karosseriene kan selvf\u00f8lgelig ogs\u00e5 skyldes skader og reparasjoner.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Som hobbybil<\/h3>\n<p>Med en produksjonstakt p\u00e5 50-60 biler i \u00e5ret, er hver bil spesiell. De fleste bilene til salgs er RHD. Biler med rattet p\u00e5 venstre side, kan v\u00e6re mer ettertraktet. If\u00f8lge kj\u00f8ret\u00f8yregisteret finnes det kun en h\u00e5ndfull Bristol-biler i Norge. Hvis man \u00f8nsker seg en Bristol, kan det ta lang tid f\u00f8r man finner noen til salgs. H\u00e5ndbygde biler i sm\u00e5 serier, som Bristol, vil alltid v\u00e6re klassikere. <\/p>\n\n<p><figure id=\"attachment_61843\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-61843\" style=\"width: 1920px\"
