Nye modeller fikk selvb\u00e6rende ponton-karosserier og smekre 3-boks design. Ford Consul var et eksempel p\u00e5 akkurat d\u00e9t da den ble vist frem p\u00e5 British International Motor Show i 1950.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2ingreslbcenter\">Ford Consul<\/h3>\n<p>Modellen b\u00f8d p\u00e5 flere nyheter, som uavhengig hjuloppheng med Macpherson fj\u00e6rben foran og en ny OHV rekkefirer-motor p\u00e5 47 HK med en 3-trinns girkasse og rattgir. Sett med 1950-\u00f8yne, var Consul en fullverdig stor bil. Den ble produsert som \u00e5rsmodell 1951 til 1956 med 4 d\u00f8rer. Under den tiden ble det ogs\u00e5 bygget 2 d\u00f8rer cabriolet hos <em>Carbodies<\/em> i Coventry &#8211; kjent for sine drosjebiler &#8211; samt 5 d\u00f8rer stasjonsvogner hos karosserimakeriet <em>E D Abbott Ltd<\/em> i Surrey. Den hadde en rekkesekser-motor (forlenget Consul-motor) p\u00e5 68 HK &#8211; ogs\u00e5 den med en 3-trinns girkasse og rattgir. Den kunne ogs\u00e5 leveres i varianter som cabriolet og stasjonsvogn fra de samme karosserimakerne. Fra \u00e5rsmodell 1954 kom Ford Zephyr Zodiac &#8211; senere kalt Ford Zodiac. Rekkesekser-motoren fikk h\u00f8yere kompresjon og ga 72 HK. Zodiac var toppmodellen i familien med to-farget lakk, skinnseter, vindusspylere, med mer. Tidlige modeller er sjeldne i dag. I f\u00f8lge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.howmanyleft.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>www.HowManyLeft.co.uk<\/strong><\/a> finnes det bare 50 Zephyr og Zodiac mk1 igjen i Storbritannia. I Norge finnes det i f\u00f8lge <a href=\"https:\/\/regnr.info\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>regnr.info<\/strong><\/a> igjen omtrent 20 Zephyr\/Zodiac mk1 og 13 Consul EOTA mk1,
