De er bygd p\u00e5 ramme, solide, enkle, uj\u00e5lete arbeidsjern som passer inn over alt \u2013 foran en gammel engelsk pub, fin herreg\u00e5rd eller moderne forretningsbygg av glass og betong. Klassiske Land Rovere vil sannsynligvis aldri g\u00e5 av moten. Hvis man skal ha \u00e9n bil for resten av livet, er Land Rover en god kandidat.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Gradvis utvikling<\/h3>\n<p>Land Rover-modellene har utviklet seg gradvis fra f\u00f8rste modell dukket opp like etter krigen i 1947. Man snakker om serier, som Serie I, II, IIA og III. <em>Defender<\/em> er en etterf\u00f8lger etter Serie III 90 og 110. Modellnavnet ble offisielt i 1990, men grunnlaget for modellen tok form allerede i 1983.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nModellbetegnelsene 90, 110 og 130 angir akselavstanden i tommer.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nMan kan si at Land Rover ble l\u00f8ftet fra \u00e5 v\u00e6re ren Jeep til \u00e5 bli en SUV. Spesielt viktig var ny fj\u00e6ring med spiralfj\u00e6rer som gjorde bilen mer komfortabel p\u00e5 landevei. Den fikk ogs\u00e5 et mer moderne, permanent 4&#215;4 system fra Range Rover. Motorprogrammet ble utvidet med en 2,25 liter suge-dieselmotor som ga 68 HK. I 2007 kom TD5-motoren som ble popul\u00e6r. Det var en rekkefemmer turbodiesel som ga 122 og et godt bunndrag.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nFor modell\u00e5ret 2012 ble TD5-motoren byttet ut med Ford&#8217;s turbodiesel-motorer produsert ved Dagenham-anlegget. F\u00f8rst Duratorq 2,4 122HK, senere 2,2 122 HK. De aller fleste Defender g\u00e5r p\u00e5 diesel, men man kunne ogs\u00e5 f\u00e5 Defender med V8-motoren fra Range Rover-modellene &#8211; f\u00f8rst 3,5 liter, senere 3,9 liter V8.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nVisuelle endringer fra \u00e5rsmodell 2012 er en ekstra forh\u00f8yning p\u00e5 panseret  og at bilene ikke lenger er utstyrt med lufteklaffer under frontruten.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure
