Den benyttet den 8-sylindrede motoren fra 308 GT4, men fikk en mer moderne form &#8211; mer avrundet og mer i stil med dagens biler. I dag har Ferrari lykkes godt med sine 8-sylindrede biler. Det er fullverdige Ferrarier.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nI 1980 kunne man f\u00e5 motorer med <em>Bosch K-Jetronic<\/em> bensin-innspr\u00f8ytning, noe som ble angitt med en &laquo;i&raquo; etter modellbetegnelsene GTBi og GTSi. Fra 1983 \u00e5rsmodell fikk motorene i Ferrari 308 og Mondial 4 ventiler pr sylinder, angitt i modellnavnet som <em>Quattrovalvole<\/em> \u2013 eller bare QV.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nDet var i TV-serien Magnum PI at modellen ble ud\u00f8deliggjort. Tom Selleck kj\u00f8rte nemlig rundt p\u00e5 Hawaii i en r\u00f8d GTS.
