Prosjektet ble kalt <em>Experimental Jaguar<\/em> &#8211; forkortet XJ. Man kan jo forestille seg hvilken boblende kreativitet som endte i en 4-d\u00f8rer prestisje sedan. XJ l\u00e5ter coolt, og hvorfor ikke benytte det som modellbetegnelse? Men Jaguar XJ virket ikke eksperimentell &#8211; tvert imot. Ikke var det s\u00e5 mye \u00e5 finne fra E-Type heller. Ett av m\u00e5lene var \u00e5 utstyre modellen med V12-motor, men ved lansering som 1968 \u00e5rsmodell kunne Jaguar &laquo;bare&raquo; levere biler med 4,2 rekkesekser. Fra 1971 kunne modellen leveres med 5,3 liter V12. Modellen ble kalt XJ12. Fra 1973 kom XJ serie 2. Den ble levert med de samme motorer, men fikk en del tydelige visuelle endringer som smalere grill og nye st\u00f8tfangere. Fra 1975 kom XJ i en attraktiv coup\u00e9-utgave uten midtstolpe, kalt XJ-C. Fra 1979 kom XJ Serie 3. Visuelle endringer var ny front og et mer h\u00f8yreist glasshus og innfelte d\u00f8rh\u00e5ndtak. Den fikk ogs\u00e5 nye versjoner av 6- og 12-sylindrede motorer. Produksjonen av XJ Serie 3 ble avsluttet p\u00e5 slutten av 1992.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Etterf\u00f8lgende serier<\/h3>\n<p>XJ Serie 1, 2 og 3 var de f\u00f8rste modellene. det videre i 1984. Jaguar lanserte Daimler som luksusversjoner av Jaguar XJ. Bilen i lyskrysset er en Jaguar XJ12 HE Sovereign med V12-motor og \u201cPepperpot\u201d felger. Bilen fikk ny eier for ikke lenge siden. Det skal v\u00e6re en original 1984 modell med kun 80 000 km p\u00e5 km-telleren.
