Bilene med &laquo;split window&raquo; delt bakrute var de f\u00f8rste som kom i salg fra 1948 til et stykke ut i modell\u00e5ret 1953. De var en klar forbedring i forhold til prototypen som ikke hadde noen bakrute i det hele tatt.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Volkswagens f\u00f8rste \u00e5r<\/h3>\n<p>Heinrich Nordhoff ble sjef for Volkswagen i 1948 og fikk ansvaret med \u00e5 bygge opp bilproduksjonen etter krigen. Volkswagen var da fremdeles en liten, ukjent fabrikk med biler ekspertene gav sm\u00e5 markedsmuligheter. Nordhoff ville gj\u00f8re merket til et stort bilmerke, og la helt nye planer for produksjon og markedsf\u00f8ring. Han ville satse p\u00e5 2 grunnmodeller. Det skulle v\u00e6re produkter med h\u00f8y kvalitet og god oppf\u00f8lging av bilkj\u00f8perne. For \u00e5 n\u00e5 de ambisi\u00f8se m\u00e5lene, m\u00e5tte han ogs\u00e5 satse p\u00e5 eksport til andre deler av verden \u2013 ogs\u00e5 USA. Lanseringen var vanskelig. Den f\u00f8rste bilen man hadde med over Atlanteren m\u00e5tte selges for \u00e5 dekke regningen p\u00e5 hotellet. Interessen for bilen var skremmende lav. modellen de f\u00f8rste \u00e5rene, men f\u00e5 av dem var synlige fra utsiden. 1948-modellen fikk for f\u00f8rste gang den karakteristiske nesen p\u00e5 motorluken hvor skiltlyset sitter. I 1951 fikk modellen et Wolfsburg-merke p\u00e5 bagasjeromsdekselet foran. I 1952 ble h\u00e5ndtaket til motordekselet T-formet i stedet for L-formet. I 1953 fikk sidevinduene foran trekantede luftevinduer. utviklet cabriolet-l\u00f8sning for Volkswagen. Med Hebm\u00fcller blir bilen en  2+2 seter med plass til \u00e5 skjule kalesjen n\u00e5r den var sl\u00e5tt ned. Karmann lagde en kalesje med fire vinduer som foldet seg ned p\u00e5 utsiden av karosseriet for \u00e5 gi b\u00e5de mulighet til baksetet og det lille bagasjerommet bak. Derfor fikk Karmann Volkswagens velsignelse. Hebm\u00fcllers elegante l\u00f8sning ble ikke produsert i et s\u00e6rlig h\u00f8yt antall. I f\u00f8lge <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hebm%C3%BCller\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wikipedia<\/a> fikk de en ordre fra Volkswagen p\u00e5 2000 biler, men p\u00e5 grunn av en stor brann i fabrikken fikk de ikke produsert mer enn 696 biler f\u00f8r de gikk konkurs i 1952. Hebm\u00fcller er ikke bare s\u00e6rdeles vakre biler &#8211; de er ogs\u00e5 sv\u00e6rt sjeldne.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2ingreslbcenter\">Der Wiger Coup\u00e9<\/h3>\n<p>\u00abHebm\u00fcller\u00bb, tenkte jeg da jeg s\u00e5 denne coup\u00e9-varianten. Hebm\u00fcller bygde stilige cabrioleter av tidlige Volkswagen med delt bakrute. Den var gr\u00f8nn som bilen p\u00e5 ett av bildene og tilh\u00f8rte en nabo i min barndom. \u00c5ret var 1964. Turen gikk fra Vestfold til F\u00e5vang i Gudbrandsdalen. Jeg var 6 \u00e5r og satt i baksetet mellom moren min og nabofruen. Faren min satt i passasjersetet foran med s\u00f8steren min p\u00e5 fanget. Naboens 12-\u00e5ring l\u00e5 sammenkroket i det lille rommet bak baksetet. Bagasjen var surret p\u00e5 taket. Turen var p\u00e5 31 mil og skulle ta mange timer. Alle de voksne r\u00f8kte konstant. Mellom r\u00f8yken kunne jeg fornemme en svakt lukt av bensin. P\u00e5 veien opp til fjellet m\u00e5tte vi stanse, \u00e5pne motordekslet og legge v\u00e5t mose p\u00e5 motoren for at den skulle avkj\u00f8le seg. F\u00f8r nedstigning hadde bilen g\u00e5tt tom for bensin. 1953-modellen med delt bakvindu hadde ingen bensinm\u00e5ler &#8211; men den hadde heldigvis reservetank. Men reservetanken var dessverre tom!
