Den var fire og et halvt \u00e5r da jeg kj\u00f8pte den og hadde tidligere g\u00e5tt som firmabil for Securitas. Etter det, damekj\u00f8rt, &#8211; og dessverre kj\u00f8rt tom for olje. Jeg tok motoren ut for overhaling, men den kunne ikke reddes. L\u00f8sningen ble nyoverhalt byttemotor inn. Skiftet deretter alle slitedeler og fikk lagt p\u00e5 ny lakk. Og s\u00e5 gjorde jeg den tabben mange tidligere Renault 4-eiere gjorde, &#8211; jeg solgte den. Den beslutningen angrer jeg p\u00e5 den dag i dag. 32 hester og paraplygir virker kanskje ikke s\u00e5 sexy, men morsommere bil finnes knapt.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_43974\" blir stadig mer og mer sjeldne. Dette er ideelle biler for gj\u00f8r-det-selv mekanikere. I Norge er Renault 4 en hobbybil for noen. I Frankrike finnes enn\u00e5 verksteder med folk som kjenner disse bilene ut og inn. Jeg knipser bilder av Renault 4 hele tiden &#8211; og har ikke lenger full oversikt over hvilke bilder som er tatt <em>hvor<\/em>. De fleste er tatt i Syd-Frankrike, hvor mange fremdeles er p\u00e5 veien. Noen ogs\u00e5 her som hobbybiler, men forbausende mange er i daglig bruk.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Renault 4 modellhistorikk<\/h3>\n<p>Modellen kom i salg som 1962-modell og produsert ut 1992. Det ble kun gjort mindre endringer fra det opprinnelige konseptet &#8211; sm\u00e5 detaljer som kan r\u00f8pe \u00e5rsmodell. De f\u00f8rste bilene hadde en liten grill. I 1968 ble den byttet ut med en st\u00f8rre grill med chrome. I 1975 ble grillen mer rektangul\u00e6r og utf\u00f8rt i matt svart plastikk. Dashbordet ble ogs\u00e5 endret. I 1977 ble fremre blinklys endret fra sm\u00e5 runde til rektangul\u00e6re lamper med blink- og parklys. Girkassa hadde 4 trinn og var plassert foran motoren med en vertikal girspak inne i motorrommet som ble betjent med et horisontalt montert aluminiumsstag som strakk seg fra girspaken til et paraplyh\u00e5ndtak inne i kupeen. Derav navnet &laquo;paraplygir&raquo;. Det s\u00e5 primitivt ut, men fungerte helt utmerket. Giringen gikk kjapt og presist. En person med store never kunne fint ratte og gire samtidig med en h\u00e5nd. Motoren var lettstartet og kvikk i bykj\u00f8ring. 0-50 gikk raskere enn noe annet kj\u00f8ret\u00f8y jeg hadde kj\u00f8rt p\u00e5 den tiden. Over 70 gikk det derimot tregere \u00e5 akselerere. Forbikj\u00f8ringene m\u00e5tte planlegges n\u00f8ye. P\u00e5 steder jeg visste om en forbikj\u00f8ringsmulighet, la jeg inn litt avstand til forankj\u00f8rende p\u00e5 forh\u00e5nd for \u00e5 bygge opp hastighet. N\u00e5r veien \u00e5pnet seg kunne jeg enten bruke farten til \u00e5 kj\u00f8re forbi &#8211; eller hogge inn bremsene. P\u00e5 vinterf\u00f8re s\u00f8rget understellet og de smale piggdekkene for solid feste.
