Under skallet delte de teknikk med Ascona B &#8211; og Ascona C.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Modellhistorikk<\/h3>\n<p>Opel Manta B delte motorer og teknikk med Ascona B men fikk et mer sportslig karosseri og innredning. Da Ascona B ble avl\u00f8st av Ascona C i 1983, fortsatte produksjonen av Manta B med en facelift. Oppgraderte modeller fikk 4 slisser i grillen i stedet for 2 &#8211; og omtales ofte som Manta B2. \u00c5rsmodellene f\u00f8r facelift var 1976 til og med 1982. Manta B2 ble produsert som \u00e5rsmodell 1983 til og med 1988. Motorene var de samme som Ascona for de respektive produksjons\u00e5rene. Blant motorene som ble levert til Norge, var 1,3 S (75 HK), 1,9 S (90 HK). Men Manta kunne ogs\u00e5 leveres med st\u00f8rre motorer, som 2,0 S (100 HK), 2,0 E med injection 110 HK, samt 2,4 E (144 HK). Det fantes to karosserier i Manta-serien &#8211; en 2-d\u00f8rer coup\u00e9 og en 3-d\u00f8rer combicoup\u00e9 kalt CC. Popul\u00e6re utstyrsvarianter var GT\/J (Jung), GT\/E. B2 kunne leveres i GSi-utf\u00f8relse.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Sportslig men ingen sportsbil<\/h3>\n<p>Biler som Opel Manta var popul\u00e6re p\u00e5 70-tallet. Flere andre bilprodusenter laget sportslige coup\u00e9-modeller av sine standarbiler. Eksempler er blant andre Ford Capri, Renault 15 og 17, Saab Sonett og Fiat 124. Vel var bilene mer str\u00f8mlinjeformede enn standardbilene, men de var ikke s\u00e6rlig raskere &#8211; i hvert fall ikke i standardversjon. Men Opel Manta har v\u00e6rt et yndet utgangspunkt for effekt\u00f8kninger og ombyggingsprosjekter senere i bilenes livsl\u00f8p.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"tebh2ingreslbcenter\">Manta
