Den har en tverrstilt midtplassert 2-liter motor og skiller seg alts\u00e5 ganske mye fra de andre Beta-modellene, skj\u00f8nt man kan se likhetstrekk til Lancia Beta. Man kan ogs\u00e5 ane familietrekk til Fiat X1\/9. Montecarlo ble bygget i 2 serier, den f\u00f8rste fra 1975-1978, den andre fra 1980-1981. Serie II biler ble ikke lenger markedsf\u00f8rt som &laquo;Lancia Beta Montecarlo&raquo; &#8211; bare som &laquo;Lancia Montecarlo&raquo;. Den lysebl\u00e5 bilen er en serie 2-modell, mens den r\u00f8de er en serie 1.
