Modellen ble produsert under flere eiere: BMW (1995-2000), MG Rover Group (2000-2005), senere under kinesisk eierskap frem til 2011. Det som gj\u00f8r MGF \u201cekte\u201d, er at den ble utviklet av <em>Rover Group<\/em> &#8211; restene etter <em>British Leyland<\/em>. MGF ble utviklet og produsert som MG &#8211; i motsetning til andre moeller som bar MG i navnet, men som i realiteten var \u201crebadge\u201d av andre modeller i Rover-stallen. <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">En moderne sportsbil<\/h3>\n<p>MG er kjent for sine lette sportsbiler. Alle husker vel 60-tallsikonet MGB &#8211; en konvensjonell roadster og coup\u00e9 &#8211; vakker, velkj\u00f8rende og folkelig. P\u00e5 begynnelsen av 90-tallet videreutviklet Rover Group MGB til RV8 med Rovers V8-motor. Men med MGF fant Rover tilbake til en lett og folkelig modell. Drivlinjen best\u00e5r av en midtplassert, tverrstilt motor med drift p\u00e5 bakhjulene &#8211; som vi ogs\u00e5 finner i Toyota MR2. MGF var siste modell som ble utstyrt med fj\u00e6ringssystemet <em>Hydragas<\/em>. Systemet er basert p\u00e5 hydraulikk og gass &#8211; samme som British Leyland\/Rover Group benyttet i flere modeller, blant annet Austin Maxi, Allegro, Princess og Metro.<br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\nBasismotoren i MGF var 1,8 liter 16V Rover-motor p\u00e5 120 HK. Man kunne ogs\u00e5 f\u00e5 den med 1,8 VVC (variabel ventilstyring) p\u00e5 147 HK. Disse motorene gir sportslige ytelser med tanke p\u00e5 at bilene kun veier omkring 1000 kg.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<br \/>\n<figure id=\"attachment_41603\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-41603\" 1996 under ledelse av BMW. Fra modell\u00e5r 2000 kunne MGF f\u00e5s med en enda sprekere 1,8-motor, kalt <em>Trophy<\/em> med 160 HK. Det ble ogs\u00e5 mulig \u00e5 f\u00e5 den med en 1,6 liters motor p\u00e5 112 HK. I 2000 solgte BMW sin Rover-divisjon til et nystartet britisk selskap kalt <em>MG Rover Group<\/em>. Deres f\u00f8rste prosjekt var \u00e5 lage en ny versjon av MGF, kalt MGTF. Blant visuelle endringer var ny grill med 4 horisontale ribber, nye frontlykter og st\u00f8tfangere. De erstattet ogs\u00e5 Hydragas-fj\u00e6ringen med et konvensjonelt system. I 2005 gikk MG Rover Group konkurs. Det som var igjen av selskapet i Longbridge, ble solgt til det kinesiske bilkonsernet SAIC som gjenoppstartet produksjonen av MGTF i kina for det kinesiske markedet, og samtidig i Longbridge for det europeiske markedet &#8211; basert p\u00e5 montering av deler sendt fra Kina. Jeg har ingen erfaring med Hydralift\/Hydragas fj\u00e6ringen, men ser at man kan f\u00e5 kj\u00f8pt deler p\u00e5 nettet, og kjenner jeg britiske bilentusiaster rett, finnes det sikkert gode manualer for hvordan man kan fikse det selv. MGF er et alternativ til Toyota MR2 &#8211; relativt rimelig \u00e5 kj\u00f8pe, velkj\u00f8rende og ikke for kompliserte, &#8211; og fine \u00e5 ta med ut p\u00e5 sommerturer &#8211; med eller uten tak.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"tebh2\">Om bildene<\/h3>\n<p>Bildene er av den r\u00f8de bilen er tatt p\u00e5 en offentlig P-plass p\u00e5 Fornebu utenfor Oslo. Den gr\u00f8nne bilen er en MFTF som deltok p\u00e5 Brooklands Summer Classic Gathering 2023.
